Today we’d like to introduce you to Vera Riabova
Hi Vera, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Russia and when I was 10 years old my family decided to permanently move to the United States. Continuing to grow up here has definitely affected my mindset and the way I see things, and if I could go back – I wouldn’t change a thing. Currently I am 16 years old and I’ve been working with social media ever since I was 9. I started with my youtube channel and slowly moved towards Instagram, Tiktok and Pinterest. Besides for that, I love creating film and one of my short films has gained an award in the California Student Media Festival. I have a lot of big plans and dreams for the future that I plan to work towards along with finishing high school and going to college. I’m so happy that my parents chose California as a state for us to stay in forever now and I feel like this state has to offer so much, specially with the goals I plan to achieve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like when trying something new failing is a part of the journey so no, it was definitely not a smooth road. Multiple motivation loss has been experienced on my end when working with social media, but I have gotten back on track every time simply because it’s what I truly love. Some obstacles I’ve gone through along the way have been haters that constantly have an opinion about the way I should live my life, and getting used to understanding that “haters hate” and it’s not personal was definitely not a smooth road either. As I said previously, losing motivation to post due to low views and audience engagement has also been one of the obstacles, but I believe that it’s important to keep going no matter how hard it is, specially if it’s something that you truly love and enjoy. Please don’t let people that are afraid to try themselves stop you.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m very passionate about filmmaking and creating in general. This year so far I’ve created 2 short films one of which won an award in Hollywood. I’ve worked on set by helping behind the scenes for over 10 projects with my friends, but that’s only my filmmaking side. Besides for that, my social media skills have definitely gained a lot of momentum because of my obsession with filmmaking because content creation is a form of art as well and it’s one of the ways I like to express myself. Another hobby that I just so purely enjoy is modeling. I’ve modeled for a couple of brands in the past, but the most memorable so far has been this extremely long and beautiful dress brand called Super Dress to Impress. I’ve been their model ever since the brand was created and I just feel like I am in my shell when I am in front of the camera, just as well as behind it. Aside from that, I also love music. I’ve been taking vocal lessons for over a year and started playing the piano in January. Every single day after school, I come home and learn how to play a new song and I even started writing my own little by little.
