Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler-Marie Fernandez.
Hi Tyler-Marie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi Voyage LA! Thank you for having me. To begin, I am a Pop recording artist, songwriter, music producer, and actress/model. I first started acting, dancing, and performing with a theater company at the age of five and have been in the entertainment world, sharpening my skills ever since. Throughout the years, I’ve discovered other talents and passions including modeling, and music making. Being an experienced professional in this crazy business, I can easily say meditation, yoga, and listening to my inner self are some ways that have helped center and balance me while I create and continue doing what I love… making art.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
A lot of people don’t know I have overcome a lot, and worked hard to receive the blessings I currently have and the blessings that are to come. I’ve encountered a lot of people who thought I had everything easy, but sometimes that was not the case. Not letting discouragement get the best of me is a big barrier I’ve had to face, but a positive mind can go a long way. Once I switched my mindset, my life got better. We don’t realize how powerful the mind is- what we think, and believe, we create. Thinking positive lead me on the path of self-love and knowing my self-worth. Experiencing true self-love is probably one of the best things that has happened to me. The entertainment business, let alone the world, can be cruel, and hard on young inspiring creatives, but loving and treating ourselves like the kings and queens we are can make the journey a much happier and smoother one. But it took life experience for me to learn this.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently, I am focusing on new music I am putting out. I took a year off from releasing any new music and I am now better than I’ve ever been, my vocals are cleaner, my lyrics are tighter, and wittier than ever, and I’m just having fun with it. I’m excited because the music is ahead of its time but also very ‘now’ at the same time. I love it and I think the people will love it too. What sets me apart from others is that I am a female who sings, and raps to my own produced and written tracks, which ultimately creates a vibe that is 100% me. I think females are underrated in the music production field but, I have been seeing more and more talented women producing tracks and songwriting, so us women are definitely on the up and up. Aside from music, my modeling and acting career is another outlet I love so dearly and use to express myself. It’s also a great way I get to meet amazing people, network, maintain my lifestyle, and most importantly, assist with my overall artistry.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
With my father, a hip-hop legend, also being in the music business, I grew up recording with my dad in the studio, and just being around the music. He would include me in some of his songs, give me recording tips, (that I still have in my memory and find useful to this day) and sometimes I would give him my musical thoughts, and based on the kind of feedback I would give at such a young age, he knew I had musical gifts. That’s when my parents put me in piano lessons around 8 or 9 years old, which made music producing later in life a lot easier for me.
