Today we’d like to introduce you to True Royal.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am from a small country town outside of Atlanta, GA called Baconton, GA. I went to school at Mitchell Baker High School. I’ve always wanted to be in Hollywood. I am a Singer, Dancer, Actress, Comedian, Celebrity Spiritualist/LifeCoach, TV Host and Red Carpet Correspondent. I am a Military Army Veteran. Shouts out to all my battle buddies stationed at Fort Carson and the FSC 1/8th Infantry Unit. My background is Law Enforcement. But my first love besides basketball will always be that as an entertainer. My journey has not been easy as I’ve faced a lot of trauma, hurt, pain and setbacks throughout my life. I came to Hollywood, California in 2016. I moved here from Nashville, TN. At the time, I was working on my music career. My favorite category of music is Country music, that’s what I grew up on, so I’ve always wanted to be a country music singer. Some of my biggest inspirations in country music is Shania Twain and George Strait and a couple of others. I came to Hollywood by way of Mr. Willie Norwood, which is the father of R&B Singers Brandy and Ray J. He changed my life. I received a phone call from him about vocally coaching me. At the time, I was scared because I had never been to California before, but eventually I packed up my life and moved to chase my dreams.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road at first. I faced many challenges and obstacles to get to this point, especially the transition to Hollywood. I became homeless, had three near-death experiences, which one landed me on the news. My fight to climb to the top was extremely difficult but now I have more control over my life. I am in a better position and things are great. Being here was definitely worth fighting for. I was partly raised in the foster care system, so I’ve had to overcome alot of challenges as a child and being on this journey of finding myself and becoming a success.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am very proud of how far I’ve come throughout this journey so far. I am a Celebrity Spiritualist/Life Coach. That is one of my main businesses as I continue to work on my music career and acting career. I’m very known for my words and the way I inspire people to break free and become the best versions of themselves. So I focus on balancing my careers in the public eye along with my businesses. I am hands on with my people. I think what sets me apart from others in the same lane is my personality, my wittyness (if that’s a word lol), my energy and spirit. I have a natural genuine love and heart for the people. As far as my music, I’m working on my EP titled 313. I did a soft release last year of my Single called TWIN FLAMES, written by myself and Grammy-nominated TUBB YOUNG. I’m currently working to release my next song called TECHNICAL DIFFICULT, off of the 313 EP. I’m also working more on acting and doing auditioning for different projects, as well as Executive Producing my own Reality Show and writing my life story to turn into a Netflix series. As a Host, I’m still doing Celebrity interviews and working the Red Carpet for different award shows and Red Carpet events. I also have my own talk show that launched in 2019 but due to Covid we had to stop, so I’m looking forward to getting my show back up and running and entertaining the people. So my plate is pretty full but it’s worth it.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a child, I was a tomboy, as I still am lol. I was a basketball player, in the band, played softball, etc… I was very athletic. My personality is totally different now. As a child/teen, I was very shy, quiet and wasn’t as vocal or bold as I am now. I struggled with bullying alot. I was bullied alot in school and by alot of family members. So my childhood was pretty traumatic, especially mentally. I was also very creative as a child, I started writing when I was 11. It was a major outlet for me. Being in extra curriculum activities took my mind away from all of the things that I was going through, so staying busy was always a must for me because I became very suicidal.
