Today we’d like to introduce you to The Falln1.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am Aarnav Bhatia, and I go by the name of The Falln1. I am an upcoming R&B artist. Might sound cliched, but music is quite actually woven into my soul. I have been singing for as long as I came into consciousness, and my brain started developing memories. I have always aspired to be a successful artist who is true to his craft and a master of his skills. I make sonics inspired from the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Nirvana mixed with the modern sound of the likes of The Weeknd, Chris brown, Bruno Mars, and a lot more people in the R&B Space. I’ve put out one full-length album containing nine songs called Vespera and an E.P. containing six songs Called Dearly Beloved Desolation (DBD) in the last ten months.
I’ve recently moved out to LA to make my dreams of becoming a successful recording and performing artist a reality. I am currently enrolled in the Musicians Institute, and I am enrolled in their artist producer entrepreneur program.I am currently working on my 3rd album and will be ready with it later this year to complete my initial trilogy. My forte is singing, writing melodies, and music production. I’m very focused when it comes to making and curating music.
I’ve not had a lot of training when it comes to music production and singing. All of the skills I have are self-learned by listening to all my inspirations over the years. I started music production and making my own songs in 2021 and came out with my first album (Vespera) in November of 2022, and came out with my E.P. Dearly Beloved Desolation (DBD) on 10th September ’23. Both my album and my E.P. are connected through a story line.
The story-line is about my character The Falln1, or you can call it my artist alias to make it simple. The first album shows his journey from a place where he had a highly narcissistic view of him self to him falling down into the depths of self-doubt, and continues with DBD, where he is trying to chase and feel the way he used to feel about himself by indulging in toxic patterns to numb his pain and not feel the way he feels about himself now. Vespera is more pop and goes from a bright to dark sound by the last track, and DBD picks up from the dark, melancholic style of R&B we left at and takes it from a grungy sound to a more sad but subtle style of pop R&B sound by the time the E.P. ends. Both my album and my E.P. have the songs flowing through each other seamlessly with transitions so you can get lost in the dark and twisted mind of The Falln1, which scarily enough is very relatable.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being from India, English pop R&B isn’t most necessarily preferred by the audience I was able to reach back home, and I’m not good with music marketing, and the music culture back in India works very differently. Finding manager and representative is only a possibility if you already have a in to the music industry in India and thus I have no one managing me as in artist. People only wanna sign artists who are either some one the closely know or who are making music that is like the music people are already making in the industry. Me being an independent artist with no contacts in the industry who sings in English and not in the native language and produces music inspired for influences that aren’t necessarily famous in India had a hard time marketing and pushing out my music to the masses. Even though that has never hindered the quality of music I make and has only made me do it even better, so when it does reach the rightful, it makes them appreciate the hard work and thought that has went behind me making this sonic universe of The Falln1.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My forte is singing, writing melodies, and music production. I’m very focused when it comes to making and curating music. What sets me apart from others is my quality of melodies and the confidence of experimenting and crossing borders between genres to make a sound of my own. My sound has a lot of inspirations so it sounds something that stands out as it is a brand new sound inspired from the greatest artists. My mixing are at par with a lot of current famous recording artist. But the thing that makes me stand out the most and set me apart the most is the hunger to make even better music and the unlimited welcoming for constructive criticism so my art gets even better over time.
Any big plans?
My main goal right now is to finish my initial trilogy find a good management team and social media team and be featured on NPR tiny desk by the mid of 2024. I wanna penetrate into the R&B scene here in the states and I want my initial trilogy to be a full-blown success. More would be to better my art with every album/song I make and do justice to all the people who have inspired me throughout my musical journey. I even wanna make a label to cater to other R&B artists who make English R&B especially artists who don’t have the privilege to come to the states and pursue their dreams of making the most out of their career
