Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Punzone.
Hi Tara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am the Chef and Owner of Pura Vita and Pura Vita Pizzeria in West Hollywood and Pura Vita Redondo Beach. Pura Vita in West Hollywood was the first 100% Plant-Based Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar in the USA. As an Italian American and a vegan for over 30 years, it was my lifelong dream to share my culture with the community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covid was a real struggle. A lot has changed. However, we have wonderful and extremely supportive guests who kept our doors open the entire time. We also opened the Pizzeria and the Redondo Beach location during covid which was a major challenge and quite risky but well worth the effort!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a plant-based Chef. I was raised in an Italian American family and became vegan at a very early age. It has always been extremely important to me to hold on to our Italian traditions and honor our heritage while also being kind to animals and the environment. I am proud to have dedicated nearly my entire life to helping animals and educating the community about how we can do better for ourselves, the animals and the environment. Pura Vita was my lifelong dream and I pinch myself every day! I love what we do and I love that I am lucky enough to be able to follow my passion and share it with everyone!

Howard Stern (Sirius/XM Radio) is my daily inspiration to follow my dreams. My family helps me to push through any bumps and always do my absolute best. I have always had their love and support and that always helps me share my love with everyone around me.
