Today we’d like to introduce you to Sinister Sisters. Them and their team share their story with us below:
We always say our love for Judas Priest brought us together. We met at a Born for Burning Event hosting a Judas Priest Night at The Cha Cha Lounge in Silverlake. We instantly hit it off by sharing a few laughs & dancing the night away, which led us to exchanging info. We then started talking through Instagram and learned that we both had a passion for fashion & music. Azja was working as an assistant designer in the fashion industry. Ace had the eye for fashion and loved to style herself for any event. A few months later, we decided to go to Maryland Deathfest together and we had the best festival experience ever. During those six days in Baltimore, Ace had brought up that she always wanted her own clothing line. Azja had mentioned that she went to college for fashion design and always wanted a clothing line, as well. As they discussed and brainstormed what would be their ideal clothing line, they decided what if they combined them together. From that moment, Sinister Sisters was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Ace: For me, no. I feel like it’s been a transition in my life of learning new things. My life has changed drastically in the course of 3 years. For me, it’s learning to be disciplined in new ways.
Azja: And for me, no as well. My main challenge is stepping out of my comfort zone of putting myself out there physically and creatively.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a Black-Owned Alternative Clothing Brand. We specialize in graphic tees and basics for any alternative person. We are most known for our Heavy Melanin graphic tee. We are proud of pushing and putting ourselves out there. What sets us apart from others is that we want to make everyone feel included with every shade and every size.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson we’ve learned along our journey is to stay humble and positive. Also, be open-minded to ideas, plans, and goals when working with a partnership.
