Silva, Arianna and Alexa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Beyond the Petal was founded in 2019. We are a floral design company run by Silva, better known as Mama D, and her two daughters, Arianna and Alexa. The story of BTP’s beginnings is a heartwarming one, but we’ll keep it brief. It all started when Mama D began creating weekly flower arrangements for our dad’s dental office. We quickly noticed not only her remarkable talent but also the sense of joy and tranquility she found in making the arrangements. Inspired by this, we saw the potential to turn her hobby into something more. And so, Beyond the Petal was born. With Mama D and Alexa’s design expertise and Arianna’s knack for operations, we have become a powerhouse team eager to bring beauty and creativity to you through flowers. We started out making single arrangements, and are now also focusing on floral design for small events, which is where our creativity truly gets to blossom.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We launched our business in 2019, just before the Covid-19 pandemic. With gatherings and large events restricted, our business, like many others, was confronted with an immense obstacle. It was a tough time, but we persevered, adapting and finding new ways to continue bringing our passion for floral design to life. During that time, many of our customers were turning to us for arrangement deliveries to loved ones in lieu of the large gatherings. In this sense, we were able to bring some happiness to people and their homes during a difficult time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a floral design company serving the Los Angeles area and specialize in unique floral arrangements. Our business model centers on bringing a creative and unique touch to the floral design space. We are also currently putting our focus more into the small event floral design space (bridal showers, baby showers, engagement parties, birthday parties, intimate dinners, etc). We have a deep passion for design and creativity, and we are dedicated to infusing beauty and color into everything we do. As a trio, we each specialize in different aspects of the business. As a whole. we are the perfect team to bring your event to life with our floral design skills. As our focus has shifted to smaller events, we’ve found immense joy in creating intimate, personalized experiences. Whether it’s a cozy gathering or an unforgettable celebration, we love bringing our clients’ visions to life with thoughtful, curated designs that reflect their unique style and spirit. Every arrangement and event we get to work on is a chance for us to add a little extra magic to life’s special moments.
What are your plans for the future?
As mentioned earlier, our biggest change right now is our focus in the direction of small event floral design – typically no larger than 120 people, allowing us to stay true to our core passion for creating intimate, meaningful experiences. In addition to offering a curated selection of floral arrangements available for order on our website, our goal is simple: to bring joy to every occasion we have the pleasure of working on. Whether it’s a bridal shower, a milestone celebration, or a personal gift, we are dedicated to crafting designs that make every moment bloom with beauty and emotion. We started this business seeing the joy our mom found in creating arrangements and the joy our dad’s patients would have seeing the arrangements at his office every week. We believe flowers bring a unique beauty to every space and have the ability of brightening up any event. This is what fuels us – knowing our work is playing a part in our client’s most memorable and happy moments. That is what truly fulfills us.
