Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharron Moore.
Hi Sharron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sometimes the journey your story is supposed to take winds like a river, never just flowing in a straight path. Singing in church and in a youth choir did not necessarily mean I was supposed to grow up to be the singer. Being very much the introverted shy kid, becoming the recording artist was not something I desired to do even though my sister who was a singer, would have me harmonize with her always praising that I had this beautiful voice. As a nerdy/sports fanatic girl, I desired to be a professional tennis player, archeologist and travel the world seeking out historical artifacts. A female Indiana Jones! One day my dear friend/music producer Ken Larish overheard me singing while we took a break from playing tennis. He says, Sharron I gotta record you (I’m just looking at him saying yeah yeah yeah ok). I thought he was joking! But, after we finished, we immediately went to his recording studio and he had me sing “I Still Believe” by Mariah Carey. A few days later, I went back to the studio to listen, speechless and in utter disbelief; I was in shock that it was really me coming out of those speakers… The voice was melodic, sultry and told a story within the Lyrics… My friend Ken started crying begging me to share my voice with the “world” as he said, You have a gift Sharron. Today, I have kept my promise happily sharing my voice with whomever will listen, being the storyteller behind the Lyrics I bring to Life… Thank you for believing in me Ken, RIP
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The main challenge I have is the confidence within myself that this is what I should be doing. As I go through this musical journey, I battle with my own self-esteem issues. But, every time I walk out on stage, I put on my boxing gloves punching those self-esteem issues right out. I tell myself to just open my mouth, allowing the melody fly forth into the universe, sprinkling joy all around.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My artistry surrounds the Blues/Southern Rock/Country category. It’s in these genres of music I find myself most comfortable. The realism of the lyrics are a good fit for how I communicate to an audience drawing into my ability to paint a picture of life through song. I am often told that I connect with my audience on a deeper level, they feel as if we are all sitting in my living room having a conversation. That makes me proud to hear; it sets me apart from most performers for sure. So many times, I attend music shows with the audience not involved in what is unfolding before their eyes; the artist gets lost into themselves disconnecting from audience. You won’t get that when you come see me (Sharron) perform.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most is that I never give up on this journey! I have had way too many life challenges get in my way, so now nothing is stopping me! I’ll fight tooth and nail for my music to be heard.
