Life & Work with Sea The Crown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sea The Crown. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Sea The Crown LLC

Sea The Crown LLC was founded by Tasjanae Shahid in 2017. Unfortunately, Tasj’s grandmother lost her fourth battle with cancer and she found herself finding solace in making natural products she felt could have helped her grandmother through the ailments she had in her life. After deciding to start her business, she called her friend Angellé to get a website built and get a logo made. Angellé began working on a website while her husband began on a logo. Tasj then fully immersed herself in all things self-care and expanded the products she offered. When she began participating in local pop-ups, as a friend Angellé would help because she believed in Tasj and truly wanted the business to grow. Through Angellé, Tasj was introduced to Diamond and they quickly became inseparable. Later, Diamond and Angellé both would help with the business until one day Tasj decided to go into a partnership with Angellé and Diamond because it was a natural progression after seeing how they supported her. Tasj wanted to give something to them the way they had given to her. From there the partnership was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In business, things are not usually smooth. There were some learning curves along the way. One of which being, it took Tasj one year to perfect the Shea Butter recipe and to get the right consistency that the customers love today. There was also a lot of experimenting with scents and what products to offer. Those challenges were specific to Tasj when she was sole owner. In regards to the partnership, it was a challenge finding our groove with three powerful women, with big ideas. Tasj had to navigate listening and accepting new, very different opinions. There was also a great challenge with who we are as friends and who we are as business owners . It was very blurred in the beginning. Any quality friend time we had always seemed to turn into business until we made a conscious effort to separate the two. In addition, we’ve experienced typical business challenges such as suppliers discontinuing very important items requiring us to pivot but we are grateful that we’ve overcome the challenges that have been presented to us and we feel stronger than ever.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a company, what sets us apart is our products are Sea moss infused and our customers are able to connect with us on a personal level. Although different, we all have the same morals, values, and Faith. Our mission in our company is to spread awareness about the importance of a toxin free clean lifestyle. We strive to eat clean but a healthy lifestyle does not begin and end at what you eat, it is not only about what you put IN your body but also what you put ON your body. We work diligently to spread the word about a clean lifestyle.

Although we have Sea The Crown, LLC as our business each of us has other things we do and are passionate about on the side. Tasj is a talented and skilled singer who also enjoys acting. She has more entrepreneurial aspirations and goals to achieve in the near future. Diamond is a singer/songwriter who also is an American Sign Language interpreter by day and has a passion for business and entrepreneurship. Angellé is also an American Sign Language interpreter in the entertainment industry but also education, medical, VRS settings. She is creative through and through and she has a passion for making a difference and making an impact in marginalized communities.

As a collective, we are most proud of the difference we can make in so many of our customer’s lives. The feedback we get from those with eczema, dry skin or even skin that may be labeled as “normal,” we are so proud to be able to give them products they love, that work for them, and that have minimal ingredients, specifically ingredients they can pronounce.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Wow, there are so many people that have made an impact. First and foremost we would not be here without God allowing our paths to cross and guiding us on this journey. We also have to thank AMZG (Angellé’s husband) for making the logo, producing tracks for Sea The Crown, LLC and promotional materials. We have also had family and friends provide us support in various ways such as Voiceover actors for our promotional materials, carpentry work, assisting with locations for content, posting, sharing, liking, following, referring us, and also using our products.  We have been so grateful to have Daniel Smith of Righteous Image Media collaborate with us to provide the most amazing content. Brandon and AnGéle Cade at Executive on the Go and Yolanda at JB Consulting. We have had a lot of celebrity support, such as Young Money’s Lil Twist, the wonderful GloZell Green, WWE Wrestler Nikkita Lyons, Tahir Moore, Romeo Miller, Tasha Scott, Shaheem Sanchez, OurSignedWorld (Courtney, Zach and Madi) the list goes on and a special shoutout to Jenger Lynn who was the face of our commercial that will be released very soon.
