Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Sanchez.
Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I actually got my start back in 2017 when an old friend of mine reached out about a lash extension class. It was love at first lash for me. I took to it very quickly and was offered a position in a salon after just 4 short months. That led me to beauty school so I could further my knowledge and become fully licensed as an esthetician. After covid, I had a rough time finding my place in the beauty world. But that all changed once I found my dream spot in Palos Verdes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was a bumpy but educational road. There is so much to learn when it comes to starting your own business. I worked in a salon that ended up not the best fit, and I worked in one that taught me so much. Building a clientele had to be the toughest part of starting a business. Then Covid hit and we were not essential. That put a huge dent in business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed esthetician, but I specialize in eyelash extensions. Although I love skincare, I was drawn to eyelash extensions. It is a creative outlet that allows me the opportunity to change someone’s appearance. I love seeing the smile on my client’s face when they get up and see their lashes for the first time. It gives them a sense of empowerment and the confidence that really reminds me why I love my job.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Don’t be afraid to ask other professionals for their opinion and advice. We all have our ups and downs, you can learn for everyone’s past.
