Life & Work with Samantha Gutstadt of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Gutstadt

Hi Samantha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I work as a content creator. I write, produce, shoot and act in branded and original comedy sketches and series I create. I work with amazing brands like Walmart and Target and media partners like Parents and Bustle. I love to bring real truths to life through a comedic lens. I started in the traditional entertainment world as an actress in movies and commercials and I have my degree in Film Studies.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is this a rhetorical question?! Kidding… but I don’t know if anyone in the creative industry can say it was a smooth or easy road. Being a creative is fulfilling, and amazing and also one of the most difficult career paths one can choose. But every bump and challenge has opened up other doors and taught me lessons far beyond any class could so therefore it’s all led me to exactly where I need to be!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create comedic ads for brands.
I work collaboratively with them to understand their goals and then write, produce and often appear in videos that live on various social platforms. I’m proud of so many of my different campaigns but thus far maybe I’d say it’s a tie between a series I recently did for ByHeart and a series I created for Parents Magazine. Both with my partner Haely White.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is every door that closes leads to a better one that opens up wide.
