Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxane Dupont
Hi Roxane, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started with a little girl in France who had big dreams. I always wanted to work in film and I always knew I would live in LA one day. And here I am, writing my web series and living in the city of Angels for two years already.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think reaching your goal is ever a smooth road. And it’s still not even today.
I moved abroad and left my country, my family, my friends, everything I knew behind. Which was hard. I came to a new city, dreaming of becoming a writer and producer, but with only little experience, I had to build a network here, learn the craft, and mostly trust that I could make it.
And every new project, every new choice is a struggle of its own. You doubt, stress about how you could ever make things happen, second guess everything you do.
Right now, I’m writing a web series. I already directed the pilot and we are looking for funding to produce more episodes. But even though I have projects going on, I’m making things happen, and I’m closer to my dream every day, it can be hard to keep believing and trust yourself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a writer, producer, and behind-the-scenes photographer. Sounds like a lot, but really I just love creating stories. I write true crime videos for a YouTuber, and I’m writing my web series, Couples Therapy, on the side. I’m working on the pre-production right now in order to start the shoot in February.
This personal project is what I’m most proud of. It was a big bet to even just shoot the pilot, yet I did it. Seeing the first draft of the edit made me want to shoot the other episodes even more.
When I’m not writing or producing, I love to just be on set to take pictures of the cast and crew. Directing my own project made me realize how important BTS photographers are, and it made me enjoy doing it even more.
Any big plans?
I talked about it already, but I’m working on a web series called Couples Therapy. I guess that will be my big project for 2025. I’m still in the process of writing the 6 episodes, and I will start pre-production very soon – although I already have part of my team since we shot the pilot a month ago.
Right now, the big challenge is to gather money so we can shoot everything the best we can and have a great show that you’ll all be able to enjoy!
