Today we’d like to introduce you to Rich Ingram
Hi Rich, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
BOURN RICH
Born in inner City Chicago to a young couple in their early twenties. During his early development around 3 years old, Bourn Rich experienced a tragic break up of his parents. His mother packed up leaving Chicago and my father for a better life in LA. From that moment on he had to be the little man of the house. His childhood memories include sports leagues, basketball baseball football, and also the LA graffiti hip hop and skateboarding scene.
As a result, his work regularly includes subtle images and symbols reflective of this formative early period of his childhood. Later in life, he witnessed his mothers health decline which made him quit college to be closer to her take care of her. “Art has definitely saved my life and my mother’s life, she’s healthy now”. His art is deeply infused by these experiences rooted in his diverse interests, unusual life experiences, and deeply founded ideals, Rich’s art translates his unique perspective into visual imagery that is vibrantly bright and touching. Bourn Rich has also devoted his time traveling the world teaching kids and at-risk youth how to become artists helping them to reimagine a better life.
He currently resides in Los Angeles where he actively paints murals, canvas and does street
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Anything in life worth achieving will be hard. It won’t be easy because if it’s easy, everybody would do it, but the life of the artist is very rewarding the ups the downs…times of tremendous creativity there’s times of plenty sales, there’s times of feeling like your work won’t sell, All in all it’s about the process career path and this life is a marathon, not a sprint
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, I’m an artist that specializes in large scale paintings usually 8‘ x 5‘ I also do murals I’m known for bringing street art and fine art together… I specialize in painting pieces that usually have a serious message but convey it in a fun digestible manner. I’m know for bright vivid pieces with a piece of street art mixed with current events and nostalgic to the Saturday morning cartoons era. I’m proud of being invited to the White House as the only black Jewish street artist in the world during the first Jewish heritage month celebration at the White House. That was amazing… I think what sets me apart is I create paintings that I would love to see in my home. I don’t try to create a painting that I think would sell or what someone would like. I just paint what I like and sometimes it comes out as a masterpiece and people appreciate it and “want it to be in their home.
How do you define success?
Success to me being a world recognize artist. Success is waking up creating success to me is giving my daughter the life of her dreams success is just not having to worry about day-to-day bills and things like that just being able to bask in your creativity be able to be spontaneous when you wanna travel when you want.. Success ultimately is to have financial freedom based off of one’s creativity.
