Today we’d like to introduce you to Paru Gambhir.
Hi Paru, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I graduated as an IT engineer, started working in the industry just to realize a year later I don’t want to spend half of my life in office cubicle. Art was something that made my day shine and didn’t want to restrict myself to one kind. So I post-graduated in acting, acted in short films, few features, and plays till I wanted to explore more art forms.
Started teaching myself painting human faces because that was most intriguing and inspiring to me but the painter in me wanted to extend that to makeup. So I learnt makeup & hairstyling in Pasadena, CA and was blessed to work in LAFW and NYFW. Soon after I started my own Mobile Bridal Makeup & Hair studio i.e. Paru Art Studio. Initially, I did all kinds of makeup projects (Bridal, Personal & Professional Photoshoots, Magazine) and later became more focussed on Bridal Projects.
Now I balance painting on canvas on weekdays and painting on people on weekends.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s never smooth but it’s fun nonetheless… I think when you learn makeup it’s just a little part of it…the rest you figure out with experience…you understand the problem and you solve it… different textures, skin types, ethnicities and also what is their idea of beauty and what is their vision for their special day. My main goal is to ensure the bride/client feels special and give them that moment of calm before all the fun.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Bridal Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist and I specialize in my knowledge of colors. With my painter background, I understand the skin colors and hues and that makes me comfortable in doing makeup for different ethnicities. I discuss the vision of bride in detail and try to understand their idea of beauty and I create a look with that in mind.
I am proud of client base I have established in short span of time and have received amazing feedback from everyone. And I feel so thankful when they call me again and again for their all wedding events. I am also very proud of the passion I have for my work and tries to give my best every time.
Every makeup artist is different and their work style is different. I do my work with passion and 100% commitment. I am always on time and ensure client is happy. I make sure client is comfortable in communicating with me and share their opinions/views without hesitation.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
A weird mix of introvert and extrovert… I still am ha ha… I think I was always into art, discovering a new artist, watching a new movie from some far away land, admiring photographs, poetry and romanticizing it all while living in a small town. I participated in many art festivals and had lots of fun.
