Life & Work with Neil Newman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neil Newman.

Hi Neil, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started out as an apprentice in the video editing field over 17 years ago, working with production companies to learn how to professionally edit and produce great-looking videos. I became certified with all the top educational providers, including an FAA drone certification, showing skills up and above all others. I was nominated for an Emmy for my work with Carlos Amezcua on a Local ABC special “The Station Fire“. I also received a Best-Cinematography Award for the documentary Aspire to the Sky: the Wilshire Grand Story. Sabine specializes in documentary/nonfiction writing, casting, directing, and producing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Relatively smooth and extremely educational.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Within my body of video work, we try to create a more documentary-type of video, showing and explaining the story behind the piece. I love documentary filmmaking, watching and producing them. I love to know the story, the history, the evolution of what we’re watching and how it was developed.

Within my years of working in this field, I have had the honor of being nominated and awarded a few projects that myself and my team was involved with Shoot Cut Deliver.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What’s surprising about me is really, there’s no surprises. I’m extremely transparent open honest, right to the point. Kind of guy. I take a very personal involvement in everything we do from concept to creation.
