Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadine Chavez.
Hi Nadine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in a small town in Los Angeles, I always had a passion in beauty and fashion. I followed my calling and enrolled in beauty school where I fell in love with Hair. I knew I wanted to learn and get inspired from only the best. After landing a job as an apprentice at Sally Hershberger, I moved to Hollywood to begin her career. I trained under top colorist Stacy Heitman for several years. I then tested out and earned my chair at the salon.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve always had big dreams and aspirations. I knew it will require a lot of patience, time and sacrifices to get where I wanted to be. When I first landed my dream job in West Hollywood, I was living at my parents in Diamond Bar. My commute was 2 hours or sometimes more. I did this commute for two years until I moved to Hollywood. All the sleepless nights, hours spent in the car and very little social life paid off in the end. I love looking back and being thankful for how it all played out for never giving up. I learned that no matter how hard it gets to keep pushing every day until you get to where you want to be. Hard work always pays off.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in both women’s and men’s Hair Color. I do balayage a French hand-painting technique used to create beachy sun-kissed highlights and I also do a foil technique used to create bright blondes. I also love doing men’s bleach and tones and transformations such as brunette to blonde. For me, the most important part of doing hair color is keeping the integrity of the hair as healthy as possible.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Hair Color is always evolving with different trends each year, so it’s always important to never stop learning!
