Today we’d like to introduce you to Miriam Gonzalez
Hi Miriam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a person who went through a spiritual journey, and loves music, I wanted to make jewelry with crystals/gemstones, and incantation necklaces/earrings. Including natural herbs, like rosemary or lavender, sealed for protection, and healing. I also wanted to combine chainmail and scale mail with my jewelry. I started making jewelry in 2022, and slowly started working my way up by showing my jewelry art on Instagram, then built a website on Shopify. I also have a Tik Tok. I also vend and go to events or shows. I make sure I use different materials from using aluminum, and stainless steel rings or scales, and genuine crystals/gemstones. Now my focus is the art of my jewelry on the influence I have that day, from listening to music or watching movies that inspire me. The name of my business is Same Old Phantoms and one of my inspirations for that name is one of my favorite bands, Mephisto Walz, with their song Dear Familiar Phantoms.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the struggles in the beginning is able to have enough funds to buy supplies, but I have managed to find a second job to support my jewelry art.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work with the developmentally ill, helping my clients with basic needs, as well as lending a helping hand to the parent. I’ve studied to be a behavioral technician in the past, and then later led me to study Phlebotomy! I have a lot of empathy and can be very sensitive to peoples feelings. Which has led me to wanting something different and make jewelry!
What are your plans for the future?
I just want to continue making something personal for someone or express my creativity and have that freedom to do it! I love witchy/dark/spiritual vibes and have been incorporating that in my photos and videos and just want to express that! I just want everyone to enjoy my jewelry but also feel connected to it. In the future I just want to continue that.
