Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Han.

Hi Michael, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started DJing back in 2015 as a hobby. Within a year, I was able to spin at some local lounges and clubs in Orange County. I did that for three years and it was an incredible journey. I had the opportunity to meet and open for some international DJs. But in the end, it was hard to make a living on just that. I decided to branch into the wedding industry and see if I can turn my passion into a living.

So in 2018, I started Han Entertainment with the goal of providing quality DJ service for weddings and events. Just like any business, it was slow at first but in 2019, we got our breakout year. We did over 100+ events and 50 of them were weddings. With more financial traction, we started adding more services like a photo booth and uplighting.

At the beginning of 2020, I decided to quit my day job to completely focus on my business. Of course, the pandemic had other plans as it delivered massive damage to the entertainment industry and wiped out almost our entire schedule.

2021 has been our best year yet as we are so fortunate to bounce back quickly from the lockdown. We even expanded our team and are constantly finding ways to improve our service and quality. We are excited for 2022 as we have big plans for Han Entertainment.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning, it was definitely not a smooth journey. The struggles would be similar to any business that you would start. Learning how to navigate through the industry, connecting with people, marketing, and trying to get traction for the business.

The hardest challenge that is often overlooked is actually your mindset. To be successful, you have to change your outlook and work ethic. You will struggle with the thoughts like what if you don’t succeed or how are you going to pay the bills. I’m sure millions of people like myself faced that question quite often during the pandemic. But I believed that better days will come and more importantly is I believed in myself.

This year has been blessed by the support of repeating clients, earning new clients, and being trusted by so many new couples getting married. Ultimately, if you love what you do, you will find a way to make it work.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in weddings but cater to all kinds of events such as birthdays, holidays, school dances, non-profit organizations, and corporates. We offer more than a dozen services like DJ, MC, photo booth, and lighting to name a few.

One thing that we are proud of is our core value. That is to offer the best balance between quality and affordability. Our quality is reflected in how we pay attention to the little details that would make a difference. How to go above and beyond what is expected of us. To treat every event with as much significance as our clients do. As for affordability, it is a business so we need to make money and provide for our team members. But after that point, it is all about passion.

How do you think about happiness?
One thing that makes me happy is that I actually love my job. I wake up feeling blessed that I get to do what I do for a living. And then, I get to share my passion with my clients to create amazing weddings and events.

We love seeing our guests having fun and dancing the night away. Even seeing our guests smile as they see beautiful pictures at our photo booth makes us feel joyful. Ultimately, making our clients happy with our service is of the utmost importance.
