Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Nicole.
Hi Mary, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I moved to LA back in November of 2021 with the hopes of discovering my passions and purpose. In the short amount of time that I’ve been here, I’ve circled back to what my original dreams have always been. I’ve always dreamed of being in the beauty industry. I fell in love with make-up back in its’ YouTube prime, 2009 (when videos were being filmed on webcam). I loved watching make-up tutorials and I practiced along with them. That is when my love for make-up truly started. I have been practicing on myself for many years since 2009 to be exact. I had a small stint with freelancing back in my hometown, but I never truly knew if it was what I wanted to do with my life as a career. After going to college and becoming an accountant, I’ve realized that my passions were always there to guide me. I had a full circle moment where I realized that that is what I’ve always been meant to be. I love making people feel beautiful and see themselves through a different lens because make-up is very fun and expressive. It truly is an art form.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With anything in life, there are always obstacles and challenges. My biggest challenge is navigating a career shift from accounting to being a full-time freelance make-up artist. But I truly believe in believing in the beauty of your dreams and never giving up. We only have one life to live and we owe it to ourselves to chase our dreams no matter how big or small. You deserve to live the life you have always wanted to live and it’s on you to create that for yourself. Anything is possible.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love make-up because of the versatility and being able to help people feel their absolute best for special once in a lifetime occasions, such as weddings. Make-up brings out a different persona of myself, and I love giving others that experience. Yes, we are beautiful without make-up and I truly don’t believe anyone really NEEDS it, but it is an enhancement of the beauty that is already there and that is what I love most. Faces are like canvases for make-up artists and it truly is so fulfilling making people look and feel amazing.
