Today we’d like to introduce you to Margo Paine
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in landscapes where nature has such a strong presence, specifically the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains and the California desert, and I am certain that it is these landscapes to which I owe my fascination with plants. As I became an adult wanting to find meaningful work and to create a meaningful path for myself, I studied plants in various ways – from their compelling histories and mythologies, to organic farming and selling of plants, and finally diving deep into the therapeutic effects that plant oils and extracts have on our bodies and minds. Eventually, I took all of this knowledge and experience and applied it to my personal and creative needs. And so, the birth of MEDUZZA.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, this certainly has not always been an easy road, but it has been authentic, and more rewarding as such. I am sure that the challenges I’ve faced are much like the challenges of others committed to creating something out of nothing, while using only the most basic resources at hand. But you learn and you grow all along the way! The lessons you learn, you never forget, and the growth you’ve gained (earned), you then build on top of that, higher than before. From material things such as finally investing money (more than I was comfortable with) in the most beautiful labels I could dream of, for their gorgeous gold foil to just RUB OFF, or for formulas I’ve invested great time and precious resources in, to fail – to inner challenges such as imposter syndrome, maintaining belief in one’s self and our ability to carry out our dreams. As long as my desire to keep going is greater than my desire to quit when things are tough, then I remain committed.

I am the founder and owner of MEDUZZA OLIO BOTANICO, a tightly curated collection of botanical skincare formulas and tools. Driven by a desire to capture the essence of the Mediterranean, and carry on the naturally-efficacious beauty treatments and wellness rituals of the culture, MEDUZZA formulas are composed of highly-nutritive botanicals with incredibly rich histories. The collection is a line up of multi-beneficial products carefully formulated using real plant ingredients, which feed the skin a spectrum of nutrients, allowing people to invest in fewer and BETTER quality skincare products. While my focus is nourishing the skin, my true work is creating products that elevate our daily tasks to daily rituals. I feel most proud of remaining true to the vision while allowing it to evolve.
How do you think about happiness?
Creating rich botanical products that allow people to shop their skincare needs without sacrificing their values, allows me the opportunity to constantly be in touch with and explore my greatest interests, ultimately allowing me to live my truth.
