Life & Work with Lisa Lu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Lu

Hi Lisa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Being a presence on social media was not on my bingo card, ever.
I’ve always been an extremely private person and now I realize that I was so private because I was ashamed of the situations I found myself in the center of.
Growing up in the hood I was taught to keep my head down and my mouth shut, and I was really good at it for a very long time, but then something changed. I realized keeping quiet never protected me, it protected the people who were doing me dirty. I was so busy trying to keep the peace, I didn’t understand that my silence allowed someone else to live in peace while I lived in shame.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Healing from domestic abuse is a constant rollercoaster of emotions, some days you feel amazing, and the very next day feel so sad, it’s confusing.
I now understand why it’s called a “healing journey” it’s definitely a journey, one that’s extremely lonely while you’re learning to navigate through it. As I was healing and connecting the dots between my recent trauma and narcissism, I was sharing what I learned on social media. All of a sudden, I was a professional dot connector!
The hardest part and biggest obstacle for me was creating content without seeming visibly triggered by the topics, which I was so much of the time. Learning to understand my triggers helped me as I grew on social media, which in turn helped others.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Professional Best Friend, I help people connect their dots so they can start their own healing journey, whether they have already left the situation they were in or if we need to create an exit plan so they can get out safely.
Most people feel stuck and need to understand their trauma before they can move forward and that’s where I come in.
Being able to encourage people to feel their emotions and put their broken pieces back together in a logical healthy manner and leave their toxic pieces on the ground is what I am most proud of, and what I believe sets me apart is the fact that I’ve been where they are, so I understand how to help them while they’re on that rollercoaster of ups and downs.

Not all trauma comes from a romantic partner, you may have toxic family members, or even a boss you’d like to move forward from or learn how to navigate through.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was riding my bike for miles and miles with the wind in my hair and the sun on my skin.
That’s where I found the most peace in my life, no matter what was going on around me, my bike was always my escape.
