Life & Work with Lelund Hollins of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lelund Hollins.

Lelund, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My path started with a deep connection to music and storytelling at a young age, which eventually developed into a career in creative production and writing. While my journey included personal and physical challenges that reshaped my direction, those experiences strengthened my vision and discipline. Over time, I built my skills across multiple creative fields and focused on producing work that reflects authenticity and impact. Today, I bring both lived experience and professional insight into everything I create.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all — my road has been full of obstacles. I dealt with trauma, drugs, injuries, depression, and periods of my life where I had to rebuild from scratch. There were moments when quitting felt easier than continuing. There were moments when suicide felt easier than living. But each struggle taught me resilience and helped define my purpose, turning hardship into fuel instead of stopping me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work spans photography, audio engineering, live sound, and storytelling. I specialize in capturing moments — both visually and sonically — and turning them into meaningful experiences. Whether I’m behind a camera, in the studio, or running sound for a live event, my focus is always on quality, emotion, and authenticity.

What I’m most proud of is building a creative life across multiple disciplines despite personal and physical challenges. What sets me apart is that I don’t just document or mix sound — I tell stories through images, music, and production, all rooted in lived experience.

My new production company will include Campostella Films, Hollins Nation Music Publishing, PoP Life Photography, LLC, and the JOYCE brand — all under one creative roof.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite books are The Autobiography of Malcolm X(Alex Haley), The Life and Loves of Mr. JiveAss Nigger(Cecil Brown), Soul on Ice(Eldridge Cleaver), Assata: An Autobiography(Assata Shakur), The Rose the Grew from Concrete(Tupac Shakur), My Life With Earth, Wind & Fire(Maurice White), the Music Industry Bible, Divided Soul
The Life of Marvin Gaye(David Ritz), Trouble Man: The Life and Death of Marvin Gaye(Steve Turner), Marvin Gaye, My Brother(Frankie Gaye), After the Dance My Life with Marvin Gaye(Janis Gaye), My Brother Marvin: A Memoir
Book(Carlos Santana & Zeola Gaye) plus over a hundred books of different subject matters

I read about motivational figures who inspire the masses, and I focus on apps and platforms that are strictly educational or business-driven. I

I’m not drawn to most podcasts because they often lack depth, especially when hosts don’t take the time to properly research their subjects.

I do, however, follow select blogs that cover a wide range of life experiences, and I apply what I learn from these tools to both my work and everyday life.
