Life & Work with Landon Banks of West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Landon Banks

Landon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Yeah so i’m from San Diego! Grew up surfing, skating and snowboarding and around the age of 14 I was introduced to guitar by a dude named Tate Sanderson. He put me in his band and taught me a lot of what it means to be a musician. Moved to Indiana around 15-16 and started playing with some of my closest friends to this date Justin Clark and Cameron Turpin. Spent a couple years there and at 18 moved to Phoenix for to study at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) where i got my degree in Audio Engineering! From there i was bouncing around between Nashville and Indiana before i got an opportunity in 2022 to move to Turks and Caicos to work as an In-House Musician and Audio Engineer for Club Med! Spent close to 2 years there before moving back to LA. Once moving back to LA i started a group with one of the best DJ’s and Producers i’ve ever met Michael Smith (PAYSON). Our group (PAYSON & Banks) started playing some shows in Montreal and LA. At around that same time i met Isaiah Bradshaw a Rapper and Producer from LA. We’ve been working closely the past year as i play guitar for him and do Mix/Master work for him as well. In December of 2024 Isaiah and I released an EP called 40 Days and 40 Nights! Also in December of 2024 I got an opportunity from Justin Clark to go on tour with the band that he is in (Dizgo) as their Front of House Engineer. We are currently on our Outer Space tour! We are going everywhere from Florida to Alaska so be sure to check it out! It’s been an amazing time being on the road with one of my best friends!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Hahaha it has definitely been a challenging road. Band mates that have passed, living challenges, hospital visits, and times of wanting to give up. But music always seems to help me find the way of positivity and peace through it all. I do want to give a shoutout to Corey Lucas, one of my best friends that passed away that helped shaped me to who i am today. Dude was a hell of a drummer and songwriter.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Guitar player and Audio Engineer. I’m known for doing Audio with the band Dizgo and playing guitar for Isaiah Bradshaw and PAYSON & BANKS. I’m most proud of being able to make music my full time job. For as long as i’ve started playing i’ve always known this is what i wanted to with my life. I think the thing that sets me apart from others is my versatility in genres for Production and Guitar. Anything from Jazz Fusion to Trap i love it all! Even though I’ll always be a metal head at heart! Metallica is definitely one of the bands that made me want to do music and immerse myself in the industry.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being on stage has to be my #1. There’s not a substance in this world that could make me feel the way playing guitar does. Music just has a way of infiltrating my brain and making me feel things I’ve never felt before. Whether it’s hearing a new song or writing one it has the same effect. Helping others with our music is another big one. You never know what someone is going through and helping people have something to relate to is amazing to me. Seeing all the smiles at the shows makes all the difficult times worth it.
