Life & Work with Lady Raw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lady Raw.

Hi Lady Raw, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always had a gravitational attraction to music. By the age of 10, I displayed a deep passion for writing poetry and learned how to rhyme words. That’s when it all begins to make sense. That’s when my mother realized I really had a gift. I could really rap. I have an extraordinary way of cutting straight to the essence of my listeners emotions by bringing a hook to life in a song. Inspired by Missy Elliot, I wanted to do more than just rap I wanted to learn it all. I learned how to make beats, produce music, mix and master it all while perfecting my craft as an artist.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for me. On October 8th, 2017 the inevitable happened it made me want to give up and throw in the towel. It shut everything down; this was the day my older brother was murdered. Life as I knew it for my family would never be the same. As dark of a moment as it was, I could hear my brother telling me to continue. And continued I did by coming out with an EP entitled FOE (Family Over Everything) dedicated to my brother produced by Cadillac Zeaux in Atlanta, Georgia.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Based in Savannah, Georgia down by the river where the best artist are born. Ra’Seanda Brooks emerged. Better known by my pseudonym of Lady Raw. I have proven to be just that “RAW”. Not only am I a female rap artist but I am a songwriter, engineer and producer. Having being given the stage name of Lady Raw depicts my inner struggle to become one of the Rawest female rap artists in this male-dominated industry. The RAW in my stage name represents for every REAL ASPIRING WOMAN. I am more proud of the fact that o can share my story through every song I write and record. What sets me apart from others is my drive and ambition I have when it comes to this music. Striving to be more than a local artist, I took flight and made them all Believers by traveling to Los Angeles, California to record with Big Chris Flores her single “Believers” and my newest venture showing my global connection is my single “Say So” produced by Omerta’ my producer in Paris France. I continued on by releasing a single entitled “Swap” featuring Hiphop artist BowWow and I also released a single through my label Bentley entitled “Bank” featuring Hiphop Artist Soulja Boy. I am now preparing to release “Say So Reloaded” featuring artists Cal Wayne and Stunna Bam both from the Houston, Texas area.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is an accomplishment something you aim towards and never give up on whatever it is you are wanting to do.
