Life & Work with Kyle Colton of Los Angeles, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Colton.

Kyle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been acting for over 25 years.

Since making my move to Los Angeles in 2011, I have managed to add over 100 credits of eclectic television, short and feature films to my resume.

Involved in projects filmed in China, Mexico, Africa, Malaysia and Thailand…in addition to all over the U.S., I am always on the lookout for my next interesting role wherever it may take me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve always been blessed to get opportunities acting.

But there have been setbacks and obstacles along the way.

A questioning and cynical family.

Flaky or unserious collaborators.

Lukewarm agents who only half believed in me.

But thankfully, I’ve had an extremely patient and encouraging mentor/coach/friend…Emanuel Millar, to always keep me believing in myself and staying positive

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a character film/tv actor.

I specialize in molding into a character and “disappearing” into a role.

I’m most proud of playing Merlin the Wizard…a role where I lost 30 pounds and grew a full beard for five months, and committed to a British accent during the entirety of production. This was probably my most immersive role I’ve taken on to date

I feel that my commitment and professionalism sets me apart from most actors. I can have fun, but I also take the craft very seriously.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Persistence, patience, positivity and a “stay in the moment” mentality. You’re only as good as your last role.

The biggest role of your career could happen very early in your journey…or it could take years.

If you want to be an actor for the rest of your life, you have to let go of the “how” the “big success” is going to happen. Do the best work you can, with the knowledge/skill/experience you have available to you at that point in your career…and see what happens

We have no control over how our work will be received; it’s none of our business anyhow. Do it because you love it; not for the accolades
