Life & Work with King Aiden

Today we’d like to introduce you to King Aiden.

Hi King, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a black transman in the hip hop/R&B industry. I also happen to be a producer and multi-instrumentalist! I write 100% all of my songs. I am a published music artist that goes by the name King Aiden. Before my transition, you could find me on the show “Nashville” on ABC for an episode on Season 4. I’ve also appeared in TobyMac’s music video “Feel It” that accumulated over 2 million views. Now, with my first year putting out my original music, I have been collaborating with other LGBTQ+ artists in my community such as Skylar Tucker Kergil and Ryan Cassata and doing shows at local P.R.I.D.E. events. I recently got married and also got to meet Steve-O from Jackass!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth journey. When I first transitioned, I was a worship leader at local churches and they all kicked me out due to the fact they said, “I am not worthy enough to lead worship as a transman. “ That really broke my heart but also motivated me to fight for my community and reach them through my talents of music. If my music can help you throughout a hard day or entertain you to get your mind off of things, that is what I do this for!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So what I do is collaborate with other producers and we make an instrumental or layout of the song. We do this through video chat because they live in different countries from all around the world like Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Greece. Then I write lyrics to the beat or instrumental we made and bam, you have a song! I am a published artist so just Google “King Aiden” and my music will show up on all platforms for you to vibe to. I’d say this all is what I specialize in and what separates me is that every single one of my songs sounds way different. Therefore, if you don’t like one song, you might like some others of mine. I’m doing it all behind the scenes of my music and people are starting to see that and appreciate that more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
My accomplishments haven’t been luck at all. They’ve been driven around hard work and good work ethic.
