Life & Work with Kimi Liope

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimi Liope.

Hi Kimi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a California Native but have lived in France, New York, and Honolulu. I’ve been a musician, activist, and life doula for most of my life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Learning how to be a businessperson on top of being an artist has been a steep learning curve but learning to deeply love myself and to feel deserving of everything I’ve dreamed of is probably the hardest journey of life. I enjoy teaching others how to get there now. My life didn’t exactly set me up for that, so I feel like if I can pull it off and change the course of my life, with hard work and discipline, most of us can.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently support several artists, musicians, producers, and songwriters in their careers and personal lives. I think we all have a little idea of how there is no life balance in the creative fields. As creatives, we all need to listen to our inner voice more since we spend so much time just GO GO GOING to keep up with social media, performing, releases, and just LIFE. We have to remember that tending to our nest is just as important. If not MORE important.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Every time I leave LA I come back to appreciate just how diverse it is. Every time I leave Los Angeles, I’m so grateful that I get to exit the grind and I get a real opportunity to work on myself.
