Life & Work with Keri Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keri Lee.

Keri Lee

Hi Keri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was born in raised in Memphis, TN and I would say that music, my love for performing, along with my faith and curiosity, played a major part of my upbringing. From church to school to summer programs, I always found myself singing or performing in some capacity. I moved to NYC in 2012 and began to work in the fashion industry, mostly in textiles and design development. While in the corporate world, I still found opportunities to sing and be creative up until I quit in 2017 after being chosen to be a background vocalist for John Legend. Once I fully stepped into the entertainment world, so many other opportunities to perform with amazing artist came.

I moved to L.A. in 2019 feeling drawn to the mountains and beaches, and it being an entertainment hub was the cherry on top. The pandemic hit us all shortly after, and while the world paused, I began what I consider one of many spiritual awakenings. I studied myself, consciousness, trauma healing, frequencies, went vegan, and so much more. I bought my first set of crystal singing bowls and began to play for myself as a form of mindfulness. I realized how much it helped with my mental state, so I began to share it with others as well as offering intuitive readings. This led to me studying more about somatic healing, Ayurveda, herbalism, yoga therapy, and more. I was excited to find and share different ways to support and heal ourselves.

I moved to Mexico in 2021 and continued my spiritual exploration until I moved back to the states a little over a year after that. I returned to the U.S. feeling motivated and excited to share my experiences and tools that support my healing. Now, I spend a lot of time between L.A., Memphis, and NYC offering sound baths, guided meditations, crafting herbal infused skin care and tea, and curating safe and intentional spaces for people to evolve.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been the smoothest, but the best part is the journey… so they say lol. Choosing to exit the “9-5” lifestyle and not look back is a scary commitment to make to oneself. You may not know when or where your next check is coming from, and that can bring stress when you’re all in on yourself.

Imposter syndrome was a huge one for me as well. No matter the experience I have, and studying I have and continue to do, I still feel waves of “what gives you the right to do this?”. I can really be my biggest hater at times, but I’ve found that healing my wounds and getting to the bottom of these deep-rooted feelings brings resolve. I’m stronger because of it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Overall, I am an artist and so far, that focus has on been on holistic, somatic, and sound healing. I am a vocalist and I’m working on creating music that makes you feel good and gets you into a meditative state. Lately, I’ve also been proud to call myself a curator and offer workshops and event that include guided meditations, herbalism, yoga therapy, sound healing and much more. I feel what sets me apart from others is my goal to simply share what makes me feel good in hopes that it can help someone or at least spark curiosity to find what works for them. It’s so rewarding to hear positive reviews and feedback.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
Absolutely, the pandemic is was pushed me into holistic healing and mindfulness. The shutdown gave us the opportunity to really see ourselves and the life we’ve created and decide what/if we wanted to do something about it. Pain and repressed emotions bubbled up to the surface for many as well, and we had the time to sit address it if we had the capacity. I saw how much support and community was necessary for our survival, and it was clear to me how I could be a resource for people.
