Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenisha Howard.
Hi Kenisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My life was never peaches and cream because I grew up in the foster care system. Everyday was a challenge of moving constantly, abuse, figuring out myself and attempting to better my future. I didn’t allow the life I was given to determine my future & at a young age, I was dedicated to becoming someone great or at least be an inspiration to someone. So even though my home life was horrible school was my outlet and I did what I had to do to make sure I didn’t up like anyone I didn’t want to be like. It wasn’t about until about three years ago my mind shifted from being a career-driven women to becoming an entrepreneur. My journey to entrepreneurship came when I treated my acne-prone, pigmented skin through natural ingredient skincare products. Making my own products from scratch, learning the benefits and seeing the difference in my skin, I wanted to help others who are going through what I went through because everyone deserves to feel confident in their skin. And now, almost two years in of being an entrepreneur I’ve seen some much growth & success, it’s one of my proudest accomplishments!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
With entrepreneurship let me just say …it’s not for the weak! You have to find motivation even when you aren’t making sales or it seems like no one is paying attention. There’s funding involved, late nights or packing orders creating content, getting out of your comfort zone, etc, and accepting that family or friends who just won’t support you.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When I am not working on business content /orders, I work a 9-5 at a health department for the county. It’s not my ultimate career goal but it helps fund my business and school fees. What sets me apart from others is that I am the most resilient person you’ll ever know! Once I put my mind to something or start something new, no matter the challenge I keep going. I find my motivation through my only competition which is me. I have big dreams and goals to accomplish giving up on them is not a part of the plan.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am always open to a collab and networking. I believe this is what helps bring you places an education can’t take you! My business email [email protected] or dms are always open!
