Life & Work with Kathryn Hollis Peters of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Hollis Peters.

Hi Kathryn , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my career as a child model and actor, which eventually led me into the world of fashion. After years as a designer in New York City, I pivoted from the runway back to the world of entertainment —bringing with me an eye for detail, a love of story, and an entrepreneurial drive that’s never left me.

Today, I’m the founder of Female Funded Films, a Los Angeles-based production company dedicated to bold, story-driven filmmaking. We champion underrepresented voices and collaborate with writers and directors to bring commercially viable, emotionally resonant projects to life. Our slate includes over a dozen features in development, including The Minnesota Project, a five-film initiative that speaks to the heart of Americana and resilience.

At the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and vision, I bring a hands-on, creator-first approach to every project. My goal? To make movies that move people—and to ensure the people making them are empowered every step of the way.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road less traveled which has many boulders along the way is an interesting one and always provides excitement and an opportunity for growth. All the sidetracks somehow make sense when you look back and see what you’ve collected along the way. I love jumping in the deep end. Producing is about putting out fires and overcoming obsticals on a daily basis. And creating opportunity as you connect the dots with a team of like Hearted folks that share your vision and passion!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a producer, author, screenwriter, and actor I’m always working on many projects at the same time and juggling many balls. The fun is keeping them all in motion!. Most recently I worked with 2 other authors on a book called Cupid Fest which was just recently published. It’s a romantic comedy that’s been optioned for a feature film and is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Nobel. We love hosting book clubs with in-person author book signings and will also be on a book tour soon. Our short film Better Fate Than Never, which is the prequel to the feature, is at many film festivals nationwide. Our feature Cupid Fest is being shot in Ireland in 2026 and will be coming to you in 2027!

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been curious and creative! As a child, I was involved in every activity you can imagine.. art, piano, horseback riding, archery, choir, cheerleading, dance, rock climbing, and the list goes on. I think this is where I get my love of multi-tasking and love of being outdoors. Now I love to surf and spend as much time as I can in nature as it grounds me and gives me serenity when Hollywood gets hectic! My acting takes me back to the sandbox where I get to enjoy and express all of my creativity.
