Life & Work with Juliette Cécile

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliette Cécile.

Hi Juliette, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in France, where becoming an artist never really felt like a sensible option. I did have artistic endeavors consistently throughout my childhood and early adulthood but never pursued them professionally while I was there. It took me moving to the East Coast for a college exchange program to really allow myself to explore modeling and acting more seriously. After five years of doing both (teaching and modeling/acting), I fully committed to my artistic side in 2016 and never looked back. Moving to LA that year was a major part of that decision as well. This city is made for artists, it made the transition easier.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been nothing but a smooth road, especially early on, back in France where I couldn’t take rejection or criticism very well. I would get my feelings hurt all the time, I wasn’t ready emotionally to take this show on the road if you will. But things got easier as experience developed. Failure is how you get better, so once I allowed myself to fail over and over, it started to feel like it was an essential part of the process. Rejection still hurts, predators and people trying to take advantage of me still drive me bunkers but at least I don’t let it get to me as much. I’m enjoying the bumpy journey!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a model and actress. I have worked on beauty and fashion campaigns, I’ve done runway, I’ve been in multiple national commercials this year alone, and I’ve worked on numerous indie projects. I’ve only started considering theatrical work back in August 2022 and it’s been such a treat! I’ve always included emotional work in my modeling but being able to fully embody different characters and tell their stories is truly special. I feel so at peace in this industry, it feels like home. I love the collaborative aspect.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I am in love with the process! That’s why it’s hard for me to give up. I love auditioning, I love the castings, I love learning my craft, collaborating with other models, filmmakers, and creatives in the field. I challenge myself with every new project. If I book the job, then great! But if I don’t, I still had fun, so it’s a win-win.

Building good relationships with everyone on set is one of my top priorities too because everyone has potential to do great things (and you always end up working with them again eventually). And obviously, we want each set experience to be a positive one, and it starts with our own attitude! 🙂
