Life & Work with JST Justo

Today we’d like to introduce you to JST Justo.

Hi JST, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up I always took a liking to music and the artistry and loved to memorize my favorite songs. After my mom tragically passed away when I was 15, I eventually found a way to express myself by writing in a journal which quickly turned to me creating actual lyrics and songs… Eventually, I met Anton the Producer and recorded and released my first song on SoundCloud… Then in 2021 moved to Los Angeles to further pursue my dream and since then, I’ve created some of the best music I’ve ever made and can’t wait to show the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road so far, but I’ve learned to find beauty in the journey. A lot of the things I talk about in my music such as my past relationships and life in LA have been tough but also taught me a lot.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Artist/Songwriter blending sounds of Rap and Pop and writing about my journey and the emotional struggles I have faced along the way. I am really proud to release my debut EP, Thoughts From A Balcony this May. This project is special to me because it’s a collection of stories and relationships I’ve encountered along the way and that inspiration led to something magical in the studio with Anton The Producer…

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
A favorite memory of mine from my childhood is a New Year’s Eve night when I was around 10 years old. My family was hosting a party to celebrate and we had a karaoke machine set up in the basement. Everybody took turns picking out a song and singing away; seeing the joy and carefree fun music brought to everyone really sparked something in me that night.
