Life & Work with Jordan Rumsey of Maryland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Rumsey

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Jordan and I am a vintage 1980s content creator. I started my content creation journey about 3 1/2 years ago, and I never expected anything to take off. I’m so grateful for where I am today and I’ve had so many amazing opportunities from just being my authentic self. I love to create content, revolving around the 80s because I find it so happy and calming

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s definitely been struggles here and there. I am not want to get into drama or anything, and so I do try to keep some of that stuff private.
I think a lot of struggles of mine come from people who don’t like my content. I do have to deal with a lot of hateful messages and comments on the daily, but I have learned that I’m living my best authentic life and no one could take that away from me. I’m very proud of how far I’ve come and I will not let anybody take that away from me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I mainly specialize in content creation. A lot of people don’t know that I am also a CNA. I am also a full-time college student who is going to graduate with a bachelors in advertising and a minor in marketing.
I would love to continue creating content for as long as possible, but I am going to college so I can dabble my feet in the “real world”. There’s a lot of really amazing vintage 80s content creators, and I’m friends with most of them! I’m so grateful that all of us has come together, and they create such a beautiful friendship

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have visited LA about three times now and I absolutely love it. It is a city that I would love to live in after I graduate. Moving from the East Coast to the West Coast is very difficult, but I feel like I’m ready for that challenge. I love the 80s glam metal scene and so I absolutely love the sunset strip. I love going to the Rainbow and the Whiskey A GoGo. One of my friends actually played at the Whiskey a couple years ago! It is a city that filled with so much opportunity and I find the West Coast is so different from the East Coast, but kind of in the best way possible in my own opinion. There is something for everyone, which I love!
