

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Tizekker.
Hi Jill, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Upon moving to LA from Portland, OR in 2015, I struggled to get hired in the hospitality industry. For almost a year, I drove to and interviewed with countless restaurants and venues. I felt I was aging out of my industry in this demographic, I was utterly defeated. My son encouraged me to start my own company and cater to the private sector because, as he always says, “mom you are happiest behind the bar, this is your element”.
It took me 8 months to land my first gig, as LA is a referral based community. Once I received my first review on Thumbtack, things started to snowball. Because of my unique standards of service, I became so busy I was having to turn down jobs. I was fortunate to meet a woman in a very similair situation as myself who was also freelancing. We decided to join forces and quickly grew to one of the premier staffing agencies in the Los Angeles Area and have begun to expand to Las Vegas, Oregon and Idaho.
I am truly blessed with such an incredible business partner and loyal clientele.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
COVID killed us, as it did many small businesses. But because of God’s grace and our loyal clientele, we began to rebuild in 2022 and are making strides back to our peak and beyond.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am personally know for creating specialty hand-crafted cocktails for each and every event. I believe in using fresh local ingredients. My cocktails, are fun, colorful, deliciously refreshing and unique to each person, theme or event.
I also specialize in custom grazing tables. Grazing tables really elevate an event while still being budget friendly for clients.
And they look and taste amazing, a true work of art that I am very proud of.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Along my journey the most important lesson I have learned it to have fun and be the best. Humility and authenticity are essential to my success. Without an honest, authentic approach, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so thankful for every encounter along the way. What a blessing to have the opportunity to be a part of someone’s very important day.
