Hi Jay-Evan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Fashion has always felt like my second language. My love for it began during visits to local thrift stores with my beloved grandmother, Beatrice Tryon. She would purchase second-hand clothing and allow me the honor of threading the needle for alterations on those vintage garments. That’s where my passion for fashion and storytelling began.

After graduating high school, I knew I wanted to study fashion but declined my offer letter. Instead, I chose to study psychology and photography. In psychology, I learned about the effects of colors and textures on the human mind and body. Photography, on the other hand, helped me find my voice as a creative artist.

I always dreamed of exploring beyond my everyday life, often finding myself mentally checked out and lost in the “CLOUDZ”.

Without formal training in fashion, I took a job at a men’s suit manufacturing company, where I worked as the Lead In-house Stylist. This role introduced me to clients from around the world. Reconnecting with my passion for fashion, I eventually moved on to work for a men’s streetwear company in the heart of DTLA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

There have been many obstacles throughout my journey as a fashion designer, but I now see them all as tests. Without these tests, there wouldn’t be a testimony. God has given me a vision, and that dream fuels me every day.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

CLOUDZ, founded by Jay-Evan Tryon III in 2018, is a design venture born in the heart of Los Angeles. Our philosophy blends an innovative approach to American uniform design with influences from luxury and industrial environments. CLOUDZ is an apparel and accessories brand known for its Ready-to-Wear collections. We envision a new era of men’s contemporary streetwear, combining iconography with nostalgic references. CLOUDZ serves as a visual commentary on Los Angeles style and its rich art culture. Our goal is to deconstruct and merge the lines between contemporary and street fashion, consistently balancing luxury techniques with modern streetwear elements.

We aspire to incorporate refined tailoring and vibrant color waves throughout our collections. Our mission is to lead in reconstructing community through fashion. Our mantra for this year is “Creating the Future of Fashion in the Present.” Personally, I understand the challenges of building a business and have learned that it is possible to transform what feels impossible into reality.

Any Big Plans?

Every day, we are growing as a brand. Our current plan includes launching our Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Looking ahead to 2025, we aim to open our showroom and debut a solo headline fashion show. For more information, follow my social media accounts below. The best is yet to come!
