Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasper Cole.
Hi Jasper, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a veteran Actor/Producer/Manager with over 120 TV/Film credits. I moved to LA from Atlanta GA. in 1987 with a play WILLOW SPRINGS NOW that I co-wrote and co-starred in with fellow Georgian, Becky Canady. It was produced at The Century City Playhouse in West LA and from there I started my career here in Hollywood. It’s been an incredible roller coaster ride as careers are. Lots of highs and Lows but I still love doing it all. I live in both Palm Springs and Los Angeles and I’m so grateful have the best of both worlds.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started at 23 years old and like most twenty somethings, I had stars in my eyes and wanted “it” to happen NOW. I didn’t realize that careers are often Marathons not sprints. Also, I wasn’t your typical leading man nor was I extreme character at that age. I sort of fell through the cracks. I was able to do so much local theatre all over LA and the South Bay as well. I booked small roles in film/TV along the way and slowly built my experience and credits. Casters and directors would tell me all the time that I would work lots when I got older. I used to laugh and say. Thanks but what about the next 20 years. Well, tell God your plans because once I turned 40 years old, my whole look changed and I now had a “character look” and was able to parlay that into more character roles. It took me years to get “typecast” and I’m so grateful to be on a “list” when it comes to casting.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love being a hyphenate in my entertainment career. Acting is my first love but Producing film and TV is also something I love especially when I’m also playing a great role. I love working on the script and putting a cast together and watching it all come together. I have a consulting service called FROM CONCEPT TO THE RED CARPET where I work one on one with creatives and help them on their projects. I love it so much. I was a psychology major during my brief college experience and in some ways my service offers a form of career therapy.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People are often surprised that I came to town wanting to do comedy and stand up and sitcoms and yet I’m now better known for dramas, horror films, thriller etc. Also I’m a big reality TV fan and documentaries of all kinds. The more obscure the better. I’ve had a radio podcast, since 2012, ONE ON ONE WITH JASPER COLE where I highlight people from all areas of life, Show Biz, Politics, Pop Culture and more. I genuinely love doing it.
