Life & Work with Jake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake.

Jake, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been a huge Disneyland fan and grew up going to the park during the summer months. Growing up in Phoenix, Arizona, I never was a local to Anaheim but felt as I was whenever I returned to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. The admiration and love for Disney never went away as I grew older, and that held true even through my college years. It was then that after film school, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue the entertainment industry (and of course become an annual pass holder).

Fast forward to recent times and I was able to get some downtime from a tv show where I worked as a Segment Producer. Because of the pandemic, this small amount of time turned into a lot larger period of time, and I had to find something to keep my creative juices flowing. Along with not being able to visit Disneyland due to the pandemic, I figured I could do the next best thing that combined the two— create a Disneyland-themed YouTube channel! It was in early 2018 that @JakeAtThePark was officially born!

As of 2023, I’ve logged more than 10,000 hours of filming and editing for my channel — and this is only the beginning! My videos not only educate, entertain and tell stories of interesting facts and history— but I truly strive to produce high-quality content, as opposed to some “quick videos for clickbait.” While I may not release a video every day (or even every week) like some influencers, my goal is to make each video uniquely engaging and when it’s ready to be released— that is when I finally upload it to YouTube!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Writing, producing, shooting and editing all tend to be challenges in their own ways. The creative elements behind trying to be both “fresh” and “entertaining” can also be an obstacle when I’m constantly trying to stay on top of what my audience is interested in. However, the ability as a filmmaker to do this all on my own accord is so rewarding when I finally finish a video— and to me that feeling is worth any obstacle or challenge.

@JakeAtThePark specializes in not only to educate, entertain and tell stories of interesting facts and history when it comes to Disneyland or Disney World— but to inspire those to visit whether they have been before or are brand new to the parks. Every Disney park is filled with so much history and that comes with a lot of really interesting facts and things that the average visitor may not be aware of. My proudest moments are when I get messages from families who tell me that I made their experience so magical and because they watched my videos— they were able to maximize their days and educate others as well!
