Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Kenway Cheng
Hi Jack Kenway, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Chengdu China. A place that didn’t exactly welcome kids like me, a place where diversity in uniqueness isn’t welcomed but outcasted. In an attempt to raise me in a better environment, my parents and I immigrated to the United States when I was nine years old. My parents have always been so that made me one as well. The first movie I’ve ever seen in the theaters was Iron Man back in 2008. I was five years old and I remembered the joy that it brought me. This is my love for Cinema. The more I watch the more I fall in love with the medium. I was in a play when I was six years old playing as a tiger chasing a mouse in my elementary class and I guess that was my first Acting experience, but it wasn’t until when I was 13 that I truly understood what I achieve and what I really wanted as my goals in life. That was I got my first agent and started taking Acting seriously. All the actors before me have inspired me so much and told so many stories that have influenced me in ways that I couldn’t have imagined and I want to be that for other people. I also want to help other people realize what they can do and what they wanna achieve in life and that anything is possible. Since then, I have starred in the real sports with Brian Gumble on HBO Max, and also Kendrick vampire on star vision along with a bunch of other films. I now currently attend AMDA in Los Angeles and is graduated June of 2024. I’m so excited for my future and what it could bring.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth, road at all. The transition between the environment of and the United States has been the most difficult thing of my life, especially when I was younger, leaving everything I had behind leaving everyone I knew behind adapting to a completely different culture and language and ways of communication was extremely difficult. Covid also hit me hard as well as everyone else of course, but that set my career trajectory back a ton because Covid was when I actually lost that first agent that I signed, and my parents were also going through big financial struggles with their company as well because of Covid, so I actually had to go back to China for full year 2020.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an actor, but I also direct and write I love the art medium I love making movies and shows and just telling stories that I want to tell and that I think people should hear even if it just brings hope To just one person out there, I love writing stories about mystery and also high concept as a kid. I was always very imaginative and creative and I would think about all of these high concept ideas that I would like to put my future movies and I am now starting to do that. From a Man trying to save his life with the devil to magic cards that can make reality come true and also a sci-fi detective epic, I love making the impossible possible.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned along the way is that you never know what could happen. Life is unpredictable. The people that you meet the things that might happen every day so cherish everything that you’re going through but the same time keep setting goals for yourself To achieve.
