Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Garcia.
Hi Isabella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been into decorating and styling. But, during the pandemic I had a hard time finding things that I liked but I was also going through a lot. My mom always made sure we had a positive mindset and always saw the good in everything. So, when I told her how I was feeling and how my self-esteem wasn’t the best, we had a long talk. She always told me even though I was 12 that doesn’t mean I can’t figure things out, and there was probably other kids my age going through the same and feeling the same way. So, she told me to start creating so I did and that’s how Boho Love and Co started and it’s growing as I’m growing and maturing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been the easiest for me especially starting with pop ups. I had some adult vendors and parents of other young entrepreneurs criticize me and make fun of me if my booth was slow or make comments about my clothes or how I painted my terra-cotta pots. For me being 12, it really bothered me because I began to think I wasn’t good enough but that only made me stronger because my mom said, “not only are you good enough but you’re more than enough. Your story matters so keep telling it.” That’s how we started with the positive message clothing. We came up with “You’re more than enough tee shirt and crewneck sweaters as well as your story matters crop top.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a young entrepreneur that creates clothing with positive messages, hand paints terra cotta pots and creates a whole positive vibe. I’m known for my positive messages on shirts, crewneck sweaters and hoodies. I’m also known as being a mom and daughter duo because my mom is always there by my side letting me know I’m more than enough and that my story matters. I’m most proud of the messages I get from people telling me thank you and telling me their stories and how my clothing empowers them. I’m also proud of how I’ve grown along with my business. I would say what sets me apart from others is that even though I’m young, I still have a story to tell.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m actually really shy but since starting my business and being a part of pop ups, it has helped me come out of my shell. It also helps having great mentors and vendor friends that believe in me, motivate me, push me to never give up, keeps creating and keep telling my story because I matter.
