Life & Work with I AM KASSANDRA of Los Angeles, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to I AM KASSANDRA.

Hi I AM KASSANDRA, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started learning to make music in high school when I felt that my friend group’s backyard wrestling federation just NEEDED custom-made entrance songs. I started using my new hobby to make goofy songs which I distributed around my school, some rapper kids started asking me to make beats, so I started recording full tracks for them using a usb clip-on computer mic. After high school, I started producing for local artists, and rapping myself. As a music listener, I never gravitated towards rap specifically, or any specific genre actually, my production style and solo music kinda reflected that as time went on. I taught myself to play guitar, mandolin, ukulele, piano, really got into the production side of things, and stopped focusing on genres, and just made music. I still toured and played shows with rappers, which was kind of weird, but fun. I went by Daxelin.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course not. Here’s one… I somehow managed to headline The Viper Room on Sunset, and it was a disaaaaaaster. My entire fanbase was back in Northern California, and nobody from my core group came with me. My solution was to go extra hard on the bottom-shelf vodka before the show. By the time I got on stage, I was ranting, singing off key, and literally telling the crowd to “boo me off stage.”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I AM KASSANDRA is more than just a new music project. I specialize in accurate prophecy, and my prophecies are always ignored, this has carried over into the digital age.

Since this is all a simulation, I decided it was fitting to release the new album “Everything. Is Err0r.” with a mobile game. Instead of a music video, each song will be visually associated with a stage in the game. The game is in it’s final stages of development and will be out soon on Google Play and the App Store.
