Life & Work with Hazel Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hazel Love.

Hi Hazel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up as a young girl on the Southside of Chicago, I began my journey with music performing at my very first talent show in Hammond, Indiana at the early age of 8 years old. My family and I relocated to the west coast where my dreams began to unfold. I started working doing door-to-door newspaper sales to pay for beats and studio time, recording my first songs in my bedroom closet with local producer Steven “Master” Green. I then joined Chords Youth Enrichment Program at the age of 15 years old, where I learned to record myself. I traveled with the program performing throughout Southern California at venues like the Queen Mary cruise ship and local colleges, all under the direction of Edwin Johnson. I was then introduced to DJ Tye Hollywood by other local artists, with whom I began performing on numerous school tours.

I continued my career by attending music seminars and events grasping the attention of major event coordinators for shows like Coachella and Urban network music festival with the help of my momager Peaches. On September 15, 2018 I began my movement titled “Unleashed” to bring awareness to individuals who are victims of child sexual abuse. Shortly after my career began to elevate. In 2019, I found myself working with multi-platinum producer/artist B.Howard, Grammy award-nominated producer Benny Wonder, international artist, DJ, and producer Kevin Wild, and Sidney Swift. In Fall of 2020, I was diagnosed with Lupus, but that didn’t stop me from completing my first EP executive produced by Benny Wonder. I am currently working on several projects including the release of my first video titled “Ghetto Bitches” directed by BenMarc of Vision Bank films. Which of whom you may also hear my voice on every video shot by him as a tag for artists like Moneybaggyo, City Girls, Nle Choppa, and the list goes on, coined “Damn, BenMarc shot this too”.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road was never smooth. From financial struggles to being diagnosed with Lupus. I continue to fight to bust down barriers in the industry.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer/ songwriter and am currently most known as a rap artist. I also have acting, modeling, and voiceover tags under my belt as well.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality that I feel are most important to my success would be the ability to accept and adapt to change. Change is inevitable and equates to growth. Also, my ability to remain humble and accept constructive criticism because I believe we learn something new every day not only from our individual experiences but the experiences of others.
