Today we’d like to introduce you to Grayce McCormick.
Hi Grayce, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My journey has been a whirlwind of experiences that have shaped me into who I am today. I’ve walked paths that took me from the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, WI, to New York City, Boston, the arid landscapes of Scottsdale, Arizona, the yellow-brick roads of West Hollywood, CA, a meditation community in S.E. Iowa, then back to the greater Los Angeles community of Topanga Canyon, CA, with a second office in Milwaukee, WI. Each choice and step has allowed me to evolve in embracing my inner light.
Growing up, strong, spiritual women surrounded me, but none more inspiring than my late grandmother, Mary J. McCormick. Her unwavering faith and determination left an indelible mark on me. Witnessing her dedication to serving those in need, even in the poorest corners of Bogota, Colombia, instilled in me the value of selflessness from an early age. Her example and bravery laid part of the foundation for my future journey.
As life progressed, I navigated diverse roles that offered me new perspectives and challenges. From being in the dental field in Manhattan (NYC), becoming a Mother to three incredible humans, to selling institutional green cleaning products and working in health and wellness, each experience added a layer to my understanding of the world and myself.
It wasn’t until my mid-30s that I yearned for something more profound—an exploration beyond the boundaries of my comfort zone. I embarked on a quest for spiritual knowledge beyond Christianity, diving into the teachings of Buddhism and Sufism. These explorations propelled me to seek a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me.
Amidst all my endeavors, I realized I needed to prioritize my emotional and spiritual well-being—a realization that would set the stage for a significant transformation. Enter meditation. It had crossed my path before, back in New York City, but it wasn’t until 2013 that I received my mantra. It became one of many keys that unlocked a door to self-discovery. It taught me to listen to my intuition and care for myself more deeply. No longer was I sacrificing my well-being to please others. Instead, I found the courage to establish healthy boundaries and nurture my inner spirit.
The impact of meditation went beyond my personal life; it seeped into my career as well. I’m a radio and music industry veteran, a seasoned entertainment industry professional, a creative venturer, and a Lightfinder with deep connections in Hollywood and the nation’s heartland.
With clarity and intuition, I founded Lightfinder Public Relations—a reflection of my belief in seeking and embodying the light. This boutique public relations agency became a vessel for a consciousness-based public relations and marketing approach, prioritizing transparency.
With Lightfinder, opportunities began to flow. I founded and produced the Creative Edge Film Festival, collaborated with renowned figures like Scarlett Johansson and Jim Carrey, and developed relationships that spanned Hollywood elites to U.S. military and government branches. My diverse experiences enabled me to make a meaningful impact in the entertainment industry and beyond.
Life, as I’ve experienced it, proves that pursuing a passion isn’t a linear path. Challenges serve as stepping stones, each an opportunity to learn and grow. My story is about an entrepreneur’s resilience, a commitment to authenticity, and a deep connection with my ever-evolving inner self.
Daily, I remind myself that standing in my light isn’t just about personal growth or “success”—it’s about illuminating the paths of others. I’ve discovered an inner power that guides me and shines a light on those I represent.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship, like life, isn’t linear. Challenges teach gratitude and offer opportunities for solutions. Every obstacle has an answer or an opportunity to pivot and make a new choice.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I founded Lightfinder PR in 2014, embarking on a decade-long journey dedicated to serving our clients. We proudly represent partners across various sectors, including arts, entertainment, sports, environment, health, education, nonprofits, authors, veterans, and B2C.
At Lightfinder PR, our mission is to amplify brand credibility and exposure through transparent communication, firmly believing that clarity is freedom. Over the years, we have executed awe-inspiring PR campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and secured international, national, and regional media coverage for various brands.
My journey has led to developing strong relationships with award-winning production companies, filmmakers, musicians, talent agencies, and global celebrities, showcasing our unwavering dedication. My communications, public relations, and marketing background spans nonprofits, health, wellness, entertainment, and public affairs. I’ve collaborated with esteemed individuals, including U.S. Presidents like Jimmy Carter and renowned celebrities such as Katie Couric, Dan Rather, Oprah Winfrey, Scarlett Johansson, Jim Carrey, and David Lynch. Our track record includes earned media placements in prestigious outlets such as the New York Times, NPR, Bloomberg, Associated Press, CNN, Washington Post, TODAY, Los Angeles Times, and AARP.
Among the PR campaigns that hold a special place in my heart are those for lesser-known brands, where we secured remarkable media coverage, resulting in their stories going viral. One example is the “Arizona Space Capsule created by Actor Jack Millard.” That art installation story made millions of hearts smile across the globe.
I was deeply honored to represent Olympic Athlete Anita DeFrantz, who serves as Vice President of the International Olympic Committee and lives in Los Angeles. LA2028 is around the corner!
I spearheaded the PR campaign for Actor Jim Carrey’s 2014 commencement speech at Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa. Within 24 hours, we were trending on Yahoo and Facebook. My colleagues at The Hollywood Reporter and Yahoo initially broke the story. To date, the measurable results show over 16 million YouTube hits!
Lightfinder PR successfully launched “The President Carter Legacy Collection” in 2019 and 2020 for our client, World Tree. We secured 95% of the talent for a virtual Happy 96th Birthday video for President Carter within a remarkably short thirty days. This roster included notable figures such as Tim McGraw, Kristian Bush, Rita Wilson, Willie Nelson, Duff McKagen, Eddie Vedder, Jerry Cantrall, Sierra Hull, Dickey Betts, Stephen Stills, Jesse Malin, Benmont Tench, Jeff Slate, and sponsors like Relish Guitars (Switzerland), among others. In 2019, I also secured the talent for President Carter’s 95th Legacy Birthday party in Plains, GA. With the generous support of The Carter Center and Creative Artist Agency (CAA), these efforts were brought to life.
One of my most cherished experiences was representing WWII Veteran Captain Jerry Yellin until his passing at 93 years young on the Winter Solstice of 2017. Presently, I am co-producing a limited series based on Jerry Yellin’s remarkable story and the best-selling military book, “The Last Fighter Pilot,” alongside iconic Producer Brian Frankish (known for “Field of Dreams” and “The Fugitive”) and Author, retired JAG officer, and attorney Don Brown. Additionally, I am serving as an executive producer for a multi-million-dollar feature film.
I trifecta-founded and served on the Board of Directors and Advisory Board for Operation Warrior Shield alongside Jerry Yellin and Ed Schloeman. During this time, I had the unique opportunity to secure a second PSA with actress Scarlett Johansson for OWS.
Beyond our expertise in media relations, we bring diverse marketing, project management, and advocacy skills to the table. What truly sets Lightfinder PR apart is our unwavering commitment to authenticity, wide-ranging expertise, and proven track record of delivering exceptional results. We are not just your PR agency but your partners on this journey, offering that personal touch that defines Lightfinder PR.
Like the guiding principles of name and form, my intention is to bring light to every situation.
How do you define success?
I believe success results from resilience, determination, discipline, adaptability, and a passion for my work. Strong relationships, a positive attitude, listening skills, humility, authenticity, transparency, and integrity are also crucial for long-term success. Also, my other markers of success are how well I sleep at night, the books I read, and how often I laugh! Success is subjective, but these qualities form my foundation for achieving and BEing it.
