Life & Work with Flor Tapia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Flor Tapia.

Hi Flor, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a 23 years old lifestyle content creator. I left my parent’s house as soon as I was 18 years old and had nothing to my name besides a toothbrush and some pair of clothes. Dropped out of college because it just wasn’t for me. I got a job and moved into a tiny room. I went from job to job, room to room. When covid hit, I became so in love with taking pictures of myself, recording gets ready with me videos, and simply being in front of the camera. I became so confident and found myself. I took social media serious and ever since, I was able to get a home with my bf and work with some of the coolest companies. I continue to chase my dreams everyday.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been an easy road. But no one ever said it was going to be easy. Like any other creator, I have had the struggle of being burnt out. There were days where I wanted to just give up and go back to my retail job but something kept pushing me. My mental health also was a struggle along the way. I had my good and bad days. I would have little voices in my head who would say “quit, you’re not good enough” but I kept going. Till this day, I still hear that little voice, but I no longer listen to it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work mainly with cannabis brands. I am known for my aesthetic and creative pictures. I am mainly proud of how this has become my full-time job. I quit my retail job last year in June and it was the best decision ever made. What sets me apart from others is my unique style & ability to take on anything and everything.

What does success mean to you?
Success is a mindset so I believe it has to do with family, your career, & your health. I had a time in high school where I wanted to join soccer my senior year. I had never played soccer previously so I said why not give it a shot. Summer practices came along and I went to every single practice. I went out of my comfort zone and joined a sport I had completely no idea about. My dad played for most of his adult life and I wanted to really make him proud. The soccer season came around winter and coach was putting us where he thought we would perform best (Junior Varsity or Varsity). I, as a senior should automatically be in varsity if I played all four years but I had no previous experiences. So I was completely okay with the fact that I was only going to make JV. But one day coach took me to the side and asked me, “how do you feel about being in Varsity team?’ I couldn’t believe my ears. Of course, I said yes! I had done something I didn’t even think I was capable of. I pushed and pushed with my team until the very last game of the season. We had a very rough season, but I didn’t care that we lost. I didn’t care that the opposite team beat us by 5 points. I was so proud of myself that I was capable of pushing my body and mind to the fullest extent. The season came to an end and my coach handed out only three plaques. I was one of them. He was so proud of me and gave me a “G.R.I.T” award. In my heart, I knew we had a successful season because we gave it our best.
