Life & Work with Filippe Art

Today we’d like to introduce you to Filippe Art.

Hi Filippe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Filippe born in Brazil. I’ve always had contact with art in general, but I started in the tattoo business in 2013. My first 3 years were full of learning and knowledge of techniques, in November 2017 I moved to Los Angeles where I had the opportunity to start participating in tattoo conventions across the country.

There were many trips, learning, friendships, and awards that I won in different categories of tattoo styles. I am a resident tattoo artist and founder of Baruc Tattoo shop located on Melrose ave. I have mentored some tattoo artists during these years here in America, who are now entering the tattoo market. Art allows me to live a super free life with good energy, the contact and conversations with my clients daily are very valuable because I learn a lot from the history of each one of them.

And thinking about it, I just started a VIP room for my clients to provide a real experience, different from any tattoo shop they’ve been to until today. I always keep thinking first of delivering the best quality of art and service because if I’m here today I owe it to each one of them who trusted and believed in me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My biggest problems were in Brazil, I come from a humble family, I started working when I was 13 years old, I went through different types of jobs, and also my beginning here in America was quite difficult because I didn’t know how to speak the language and that made me made it impossible to do many things.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist who works in various media such as Tattoos, plastic arts, fashion, and everything that encompasses art in general. In the area of tattooing, I am known for transforming stories into super-exclusive art. What differentiates me from them are the details, I am very detail-oriented, giving my best in creation and service.

Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I didn’t have the opportunity to have a mentor but I advise you to look for one. A mentor is a person who has tried a lot and knows what he is talking about, so whoever has a mentor has the chance to accelerate their learning and not make too many mistakes. My biggest advice is to believe in yourself and be disciplined to do what has to be done. the walk is not easy you must be persistent.
