Life & Work with Emily Marchese of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Marchese

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2017, having losing my senior chihuahua, I rescued a puppy and named her Margo. She loves to be close and we enjoy bringing her everywhere with us. After trying several different slings, I couldn’t find one that was comfortable or chic to match my outfits.
I created Margo with fashion, comfort, and convenience in mind.
Our wide strap and elastic pocket is now patented and our slings come in four colors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been some struggles along the way. As the designer and small business owner, a lot of starting Margo was a learning process. A lot of the beginning was trial and error in production to getting the perfect sample, then a lot of uncertainty with the patent, and learning different aspects of how start and keep a business. Every time there was a roadblock, I figured it out and the accomplishments have been rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Margo is the brainchild of a passionate female dog lover who envisioned a stylish and hands-free solution for pet owners. Born out of love and a commitment to convenience, Margo is more than just a product – it’s a statement.
It’s an incredible feeling when being out and spotting a dog and their human wearing OUR product. I am most proud when I hear how much our sling has been helpful in the lives of our customers. The Margo is more than an accessory. There are puppies and senior dogs of all walks of life that have a need for our sling.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’m an only child of a Korean mother and Caucasian father. I enjoyed playing and dressing up Barbies as a little girl.
As I grew older, my love for fashion grew stronger. My mother and I bonded over shopping and just being girls together.
I’ve always had a love for dogs and it’s been so fulfilling being able to two my two passions together and make a living.
