Life & Work with Edith Aguirre of Downey, Ca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edith Aguirre

Hi Edith, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I arrived here at the age of 5 year’s old with my parents from Mexico. I was raised by my mother, shortly after my parents divorce. I remember going to my first grade and not speaking no English, it was so hard to learn the language when you only speak Spanish at home. My life growing up in South Gate and going to my prom at the Beverly Hills Hotel was memorable. Having my girlfriends taking me out to Hollywood to dance at Seven Seas was so much fun in 1982. I got married at 23 years old, both of us we’re young and had 3 children right away, was working at Los Angeles Superior Court, I took every advantage to move up and I worked in the Felony arraignments, Misdemeanor, Civil & Small Claims and Traffic Trials. After working in all departments at the Superior Court I felt I needed to change careers and wanted more excitement. In 2004 I became a real estate agent, I started selling properties. Ten years later, I divorced my husband of 26 years of marriage, we have 2 boy’s and the youngest a girl. My daughter became a designer at the age of 19 years old, working and designing for Nordstrom, At age of 24 year’s old she open her own business and started to work for her in tailoring and designing for celebrities, we tailored for Katy Perry, music videos, Christina Aguilera, Kim & Kloe Kardashian, to many celebrities to name. In 2018 I decided to stop dying my hair and embrace my silver. A year later my daughter posted a picture of me on social media with my silver hair, I got hired by WowScience products from then on I had officially started modeling. The year 2023 my daughter submitted my picture for the Golden Bachelor on ABC and was cast for the show, it was such an amazing experience to be part of. Started new friendships with all the contestants on the show and still continue our friendship. Now I still model and began new business partnerships with different high end skin beauty products and other self care brands on my social media platform. I continue to work in making my own facial cream & hair products, I’m blessed with my children and my 3 beautiful grandchildren. Life is beautiful and and I’m truly blessed, everyday I keep embracing my silver natural hair! To remind other women of any color to embrace there own beauty everyday.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At my age 61, it’s harder to find jobs to model, even harder to start a new business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
It’s my age, I created and design my own clothes, I stop dying my hair after 30 year’s and embrace my Silver hair, not everyone would have a courage to embrace your Silver hair and accept yourself. I’m a grandmother to my 3 grandchildren, I fly out once a month to Tucson, Arizona to spend time with my daughter & son-law and my 2 grand children to make sure I give them my love. I’m building a ADU and became my own project manager, I continue to work on it, I’m almost done. I model & partnerships with different brands to promote on my social media. I babysit my oldest granddaughter on the weekends. I plant all my vegetables in my front yard with poppy flowers and pumpkins and watermelon. Life is good and I can’t complain!!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Both of my grand mothers, Natalia & Engracia, I spend my vacations in Mexico with them. I learn to never give up on your dreams and to work hard for it, don’t let anyone stop you. They gave me courage!
