Today we’d like to introduce you to Easae.
Hi Easae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am originally from Buffalo, NY (Go Bills). I grew up singing for my family while hiding behind my couch until the infamous 5th-grade talent show. I had no idea that singing “Maybe” from the musical “Annie” in a red nightgown, with a middle school cafeteria table as my prop “bed” would change my life. My town never held a big “indie music” scene, and I never knew what it meant to pursue singing/songwriting. At 18, I moved to NYC to pursue musical theatre at a conservatory called The American Music and Dramatic Academy. After graduating, I auditioned in NYC with a Broadway dream, a few months later I had a demo singing opportunity that drastically challenged the trajectory of my life. I knew after being creating in a recording studio for the first time, that is what I was searching for my entire life & meant to do for the rest of it. I moved to LA with some hostess money I saved in NYC and have been here six years. Changing bands and names multiple times. I solidly stand in EASAE, with my debut single dropping October 22nd.
EASAE comes from “ISA” which means strong-willed. Every time I am near the sea, the vastness of my soul, hence the birth of EASAE. A palindrome of SEA spelled backwards, pronounced “ISA”.
I have a song with Danny Olson and Yetep Ft. EASAE on September 17th called “Melting”. My debut EASAE single comes our October 22nd both on all streaming platforms!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally exhausting, constantly asking ourselves “why”. If you do not have an authentic “Why”, authentic intention, or a purpose driving your creativity into this crazy world than it most likely will not last. I used my clothes as blankets when I first moved here and worked at restaurants, etc… Not only are the financial struggles a true test, I have found without a sense of self-worth or confidence, you can easily get lost. It is a rollercoaster, the toughest part is the perseverance but I believe that separates the succeeding. You have to be willing to bear it all selflessly. Sometimes at your own energetic expense, and that can be challenging.
Not only is the industry wild to navigate, I have had many obstacles in my personal life that I am fairly certain would stop many. I say that with pride after having time to grow through the challenges and step into my strength confidently. It is not for everyone, but I know this is for me. Following the fire within my passion, I choose to persevere because I know what I am meant to accomplish.
Obstacles and all, I am forever grateful for this crazy ride.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have found home within myself and I want others to find a home in my sound. The journey of loss, grief, and love has shaped me A focus driven to remain authentic, vulnerable, and truthful through my storytelling and for my music to create a sense of home in the listener’s heart. On the emotional spectrum, I am most proud of my determination and growth… On a tangible scale, the album we are creating, set to release in spring 2022, is such a dream. Seeing & hearing my stories come to life is incredible and I cannot wait to share.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Do not force anything. Go towards what is calling you with ebb and flow. If there is any bit of resistance, it is most likely not meant for you. Feeling the difference between persevering towards what you know is meant and trying to push through resistance of what is not can be a game-changer.
I have fully embodied the idea of timing happening on your side.
Everything is energy. The more you give, the more you receive. Be conscious of the energy in all you do, thoughts, words & actions.
