Life & Work with Dior Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dior Allen.

Hi Dior, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born in Jamaica W.I. and raised in Queens, New York, I am an actor and an artist that is happily living in his passion for creating projects that tell the stories of daredevils, underdogs, and loveable losers.

I am excited to see the many projects that I have had the pleasure of being a part of coming out this year. Such as CBS’ “The Equalizer,” where I try to kill Queen Latifah’s character. Also, a recurring role on BET’s hit show “First Wives Club”, was truly exciting and close to my heart due to the fact that my character is of Jamaican descent. I also got to appear on two of my favorite shows on Starz, “Powerbook II: Raising Kanan”, which was my first time playing a bad guy, and a recurring role on “BMF: Black Mafia Family”, where I play a young and dapper officer.

When I am not working on network projects, you can find me spending time with my family, writing my own comedy shorts and TV pilots, or doing live improv performances around Hollywood and New York City.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a very difficult road. Born with a serious stutter and choosing a profession where communication is key. I’ve had to work my whole life to be understood and to articulate clearly. James earl Jones has been my inspiration being that he also had a speech impediment.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love comedic improv.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Therapy has been huge in my life, also having a life coach. Also, having a supportive wife and loving daughter.

These are books that have freed me and have set my life on fire in an amazing way. “The untethered soul”, “The Alchemist”.
