Life & Work with Darrion Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrion Moore.

Darrion Moore

Hi Darrion, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had an art business selling oil paintings and wanted a field that was more involved with others instead of staying cooped up in a studio all day. I first wanted to live with my dad because I had never really spent time with him growing up. He wasn’t there. I took acting classes in John Robert Powers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and ended up getting a job as a dancer in NYC, and from there, I got jobs as an actor as well. Covid hit, and I lived with my parents for a little while, so I decided to move to LA after. Here we are! Struggling to pay rent like everyone else!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Relatively. Before I moved to NYC, I was grinding constantly when I lived with my dad in PA, but ever since I told my mother I wanted to be an actor, she didn’t do anything to support me. I no longer had any financial burdens, which made looking for jobs much less stress-free. I found that if I couldn’t focus on drawing or painting in my days, it would affect me mentally and emotionally, so I make it a daily practice to incorporate it. I still do very much do fight an emotional battle here and there, but I try my best to keep my head up.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have gymnastics experience and I am working on building a portfolio to get into the animation industry via storyboarding. I also love to rollerblade and skateboard, but I got my skateboard stolen and just haven’t really focused too much on it, lol. I am most proud of my ability to paint/draw, and I’ve been told I dance really well, but I haven’t focused on it. One thing at a time, lol

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I can bring their vision to life with sketches or paint their family member. Pretty soon, I should be able to animate. I could definitely use some classes in this field of study, but they are super expensive.
