Life & Work with Darius De Four of Watts, Ca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darius De Four.

Hi Darius, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a very musically inclined family on both sides of the fence, from growing up in a Puerto Rican household where reggeaton and salsa music was always played early mornings to late nights as well as my Trinidadian side of my family always was about lit vibes and loud music all around. I started taking music seriously I’d say around the 6th grade and then doing it on a more consistent and major scale around 14 years old meeting producers, other artists, and ANR’s for different labels along side moving out of state to Seattle Wa to play D1 high school football. Outside of music I also had a passion for doing comedic content on social media and also barbering. Once I got injured in football I decided to take on music full time and pursue it to the up most of my best abilities. Growing up seeing everything that was going on around me I tried to stray away from certain things, but sometimes following friends and looking for fatherly guidance took me down a different path. Luckily the consistency within music and everything else I pursued it made the ones around me push me to stay different and focus on other things than what was in the streets. So I am grateful to be at the position I am now from experiences in the industry to experiences from the streets that gave me a different perspective as I got older along with having a child. So through out everything and just keeping my consistency throughout the years I’ve been able to do so much from all of my crafts that it is a blessing to see it all come full circle.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’d say no grind is ever a smooth road! You’ll always have ups and downs it’s literally a roller coaster ride every step of the way even when your having moments of doing good you still have to know it’s going to be moments where you might fall down, but all together know you have to keep your head high and keep focus on the goal. A lot of my struggles I’d have to say is with just feeling like I was getting no where at times and I was putting in so much time that it felt like it was for nothing, having moments of just giving up, dealt with random people not wanting to see me win, and so much more. The list goes on and on, but with everything that comes with your struggles no matter what field you’re going into never stop because you never know what rewards are at the end of the road for real.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in a multitude of various areas two specifically being music and also film work for content creation. I am most proud of where the content creation has came about which I will say it wasn’t always so easy due to trial and error of what worked and what didn’t. I am known for just being a comedic person naturally all around. So I will say through all of my work from music, to content creation, to anything I do you’ll literally see the comedic personality of mines through it all. What sets me apart I’d say is how I can relate to others, but mainly just being a very personable person on and off the camera. I’ve never been afraid to talk to just about anybody and literally every time I’m somewhere most definitely it’s going to always be laughter coming from the first time vibe with everyone I meet. So I’d say truthfully what sets me apart, is just being likable to most people because it’s truly about how likable you are genuinely to the world and when you have a solid craft or crafts behind that it’s also a plus because it gives everybody something to also look forward to being in tune with.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
honestly I’ll say what helps me do my best in life is just having a solid friend group that I consider to be family and just self motivation and believing that I can get to any place I set my mind to and just start moving towards it best I can. I’d like to say I am my own coach and in every situation I look at as a positive lesson to be learned so that I keep myself in a positive out look to everything and to never dwell on anything so I won’t stay stagnated in any situation so I can keep going.
